St. Paul, Minn.—June 27, 2008—Universal Network Solutions, Inc. (UNS) is now an Authorized Training Center (ATC) for Secure Computing Corporation’s Secure Firewall (formerly Sidewinder®) product line for both Central and South America. Secure Computing is a leading enterprise gateway security provider offering an integrated set of solutions to help customers protect their critical Web, e-mail and network assets.

"It’s essential to the Latin American market that firewall classes are taught in their native language to meet growing demand," said Matt Haney, CEO of UNS. "UNS has achieved ATC status from Secure Computing to fulfill this need. We have completed our pilot class with great success and look forward to offering more training classes in the near future."

The Secure Firewall course offered by UNS is a comprehensive, hands-on, five-day course offered in Spanish to end users and Secure Computing partners alike. The training course provides attendees with a broad, practical understanding of Secure Firewall. Topics covered in the course include: firewall system overview, installation and integration, auditing, reporting, policy management, patches, and Secure Computing Application Defenses, along with diagnostic and debugging tools. Secure Computing Authorized Partners also can use the information taught in this course to pass the Secure Computing Firewall Certification exam. UNS offers the same courses in Los Angeles.

“We are excited to partner with UNS to expand our presence in Latin America through extensive, Spanish-language Secure Firewall training for our customers and partners,” said Enrique Marquez, channel accounts manager for Latin America and Caribbean, Secure Computing. “Secure Computing remains committed to providing best-of-breed gateway security solutions to protect our customers from today’s sophisticated threats.

The Secure Firewall appliance is a market-leading, next-generation firewall that provides application visibility and control for maximum protection and high network performance. Global visibility of dynamic threats is the centerpiece of Secure Firewall and a key reason behind its superior ability to detect unknown threats along with the known. Secure Firewall sets a new standard for proactive threat detection by integrating the industry’s first and leading reputation system—TrustedSource™ technology—into every firewall to provide real-time behavior monitoring of dynamic URLs, domains, IPs, message content and images. The resulting reputation scores enable best-of-breed security, blocking viruses, worms, Trojans, intrusion attempts, spam and phishing tactics, cross-site scripting, SQL injections, denial of service (DoS), and attacks hiding in encrypted protocols.
