HP highlights leadership in Virtualization, Security and Green Technology at FOSE 2008

WASHINGTON, D.C., April 1, 2008 – HP today showcased technology solutions at FOSE 2008 designed to help U.S. federal agencies manage and transform their IT environments to optimize outcomes, lower costs, increase security and mitigate risks.

Solutions on display in the HP booth include a newly-announced form automation solution, new data center transformation services; the HP BladeSystem c3000 enclosure; a four-socket HP Integrity BL870c server blade for memory-intensive data center workloads; HP StorageWorks MSA2000 and EVA4400 storage disk arrays.  HP is showing a centralized, hardened security appliance, the HP Secure Key Manager (SKM), and the 6720t Mobile Thin Client, which offers enhanced security capabilities.  This Mobile Thin Client compliments HP’s telework offering, which was announced at FOSE 2007, and has since been enhanced with a suite of notebook products. Also in the HP booth is the xw4550 workstation, a low-cost, energy efficient workstation that meets Energy Star 4.0 compliance and features an 80 PLUS certified power supply.

At the expo, HP is demonstrating its comprehensive technology portfolio of solutions, services and products to over 20,000 military and government professionals.  Among HP’s numerous capabilities, Adaptive Infrastructure, data security and green technologies. 

HP Solutions for the Federal Government:

Government needs to consider the workplace, data center and teleworker because great efficiency gains can be made in each.   HP’s has the comprehensive consulting and integration services needed to help agencies assess their current state, define objectives and plan next steps; the technical services needed to install, maintain and operate IT infrastructure; and the market-leading products that make the infrastructure more efficient, secure and environmentally responsible.

Adaptive Infrastructure:

Agencies can leverage HP’s Adaptive Infrastructure virtualization and automation capabilities, with HP’s professional services to optimize their technology infrastructures.  HP’s Adaptive Infrastructure portfolio builds data centers that can flex with business demands. HP data warehouse and document management solutions help agencies access vital business information for faster, better decision making, improving mission-critical services and line-of-business functions.

Data security:

Data security is a top concern for government agencies. HP Secure Advantage, HP’s portfolio of security products and services, protects data and resources from the threat of a security breach.  At FOSE 2008, HP will show its HP Common Access Card Solution, a secure print management solution leveraging government access cards, as well as the HP Secure Key Manager now available on HP federal contracts such as SEWP IV and GSA.  The SKM is a hardened, standards-based appliance that consolidates key management to provide a single control point for encryption devices deployed across the data center. These solutions, along with HP security services, deliver a comprehensive approach that increases security, protects privacy, simplifies infrastructure management and helps audit security.  

HP and the Environment:

For decades HP has worked to manage its environmental impact by adopting environmentally responsible practices in product development, operations and supply chain. The company strives to be a global leader in reducing its carbon footprint, limiting waste and recycling responsibly.

For example, HP innovations in power and cooling technologies help government agencies reduce the environmental impact of their data centers.  By using virtualization, HP Dynamic Smart Cooling and the energy efficient design of the HP BladeSystem enclosures, energy savings up to 60 percent can be achieved1.   HP also offers a broad range of EPEAT gold certified desktops and Energy Star 4.0 qualified laptops printers and imaging products.   By upgrading to Energy Star 4.0 PCs and monitors, Federal agencies could realize a 28 percent reduction in energy use and a potential savings of nearly $330 million over four years2. At FOSE, HP will be displaying the xw4550 workstation, a low-cost, energy efficient workstation that meets Energy Star 4.0 compliance and features an 80 PLUS certified power supply.

In addition, the HP Planet Partners return and recycling program seeks to reduce the environmental impact of IT products, minimize waste going to landfills and help customers conveniently and responsibly manage products at their end of life.
