Macrovision News: AdminStudio Available Through Citrix Channel

Today Macrovision announced that they are distributing their AdminStudio and Workflow technologies for the first time in North America through Alternative Technology, which includes a network of 3,000 resellers in the United States and Canada.


Alternative Technology is a member of Citrix's channel program and Macrovision's AdminStudio software packaging product has been named Citrix's preferred tool for packaging applications for deployment in virtualized environments via Citrix Presentation Server 4.5 .  The release has been provided below for your reference.


Macrovision's announcement with Citrix elevates the partnership the two companies announced earlier in the year and last month's release of AdminStudio 8.5, the first product to result from the partnership. AdminStudio 8.5 allows enterprises to streamline the cost and process of converting legacy applications to Citrix virtual profiles.  This is important because virtualization technology on both the hardware and software level has finally taken root, with IDC predicting that businesses will be spending upward of $15 billion on virtualization technology by 2009.


Macrovision's AdminStudio Product Chosen as Preferred Application Packaging Software for Citrix Collaboration Benefits Customers by Offering a Simple Solution for Packaging and Streaming Software Applications over the Network.


Macrovision Corporation (NASDAQ: MVSN) today announced that CitrixR Systems Inc. has selected Macrovision's AdminStudioR software packaging product as a recommended tool for packaging applications for delivery via Citrix Presentation ServerT 4.5, the de facto standard for delivering Windows applications at a lowest cost. The announcement is the result of a collaborative effort by both companies to make it easier for customers to use the application virtualization capabilities of Presentation Server 4.5. By using the two programs together, Citrix and Macrovision customers can benefit from the time and cost savings of being able to employ virtualization technology over their networks.


As of today, Macrovision's AdminStudio is available for purchase from Citrix Solution Advisors through distribution agreements with Alternative Technology in North America and Centia and AKS in Europe. The availability of Macrovision's AdminStudio through the Citrix channels demonstrates continued growth in the relationship between the two companies, first announced in January and strengthened by the launch of AdminStudio 8.5 with application virtualization support for Citrix Presentation Server 4.5.


"The new application virtualization capability in Presentation Server 4.5 helps eliminate application conflicts and enables IT administrators to deliver and use applications even when later disconnected from the network," says David Roussain, Vice President of Product Marketing, Virtualization Systems Group, Citrix.  "Macrovision's AdminStudio will help IT Administrators package and deploy their applications with minimum effort and reduced cost, enabling them to more quickly use application virtualization for all of their applications and see immediate cost savings across all their desktops."


By using AdminStudio to quickly and easily prepare software for application streaming with Presentation Server, customers will have the ability to prevent application conflicts and to reduce testing, deployment, maintenance, and support costs. Macrovision's AdminStudio product, designated Citrix ReadyT for Citrix Presentation Server 4.5, can help IT administrators ease their workloads by automating the process of converting legacy applications to Citrix profiles and cut costs associated with preparing applications for streaming in Citrix -driven network environments.
