Brussels and London, March 13, 2008 – IRIS Group (Euronext Brussels: IRI) and eCopy, Inc. today announced the companies have extended their relationship so all IRIS intelligent document recognition (IDR) technologies will be available on the eCopy Open Platform (eOP) document imaging software architecture. The initial results of this close collaboration will enable eCopy customers to purchase two IRIS software applications as add-on products to eCopy ShareScan document imaging software.
The first IRIS technologies available on eOP will include image enhancement, image cleanup, advanced compression, bar code recognition and automated metadata capture. These advanced imaging capabilities are typically associated with production scanning operations that require highly-trained document imaging specialists. IRIS and eCopy are bringing these technologies out of the back office, making them available to front office workers.
IRIS was one of the first independent software vendors (ISVs) to use eCopy’s new Document Services Application Programming Interface (also announced today, see related press release) to create add-on document services for eCopy ShareScan. By using the Document Services API, IRIS has made its advanced technologies available to all eCopy application Connectors.

Introducing the first IRIS Document Services product available to eCopy ShareScan users:
IRISDocOptimizerTM 7 DS for eCopy ShareScan - Adds advanced image enhancement, document clean up, barcode reading, blank page removal and automated meta data capture features directly to eCopy ShareScan to improve the handling, appearance, categorization and management of scanned documents.
IRISDocOptimizer™ can be used with any eCopy ShareScan OP connector, including IRISPdf for eCopy ShareScan OP.
IRISPdf for eCopy ShareScan OP 7.0 is the brand-new version of IRIS end connector for eCopy ShareScan - Provides highly advanced compression, automated indexing tools and conversion to extended file formats, e.g., XPS and PDF/A. IRIS designed this software to provide significant image file size reductions that consume less network bandwidth while maintaining the fidelity of the original paper document.
Other IRIS products that will be incorporated into the eOP and available to eCopy ShareScan users in the future will include zonal optical character recognition (OCR), forms recognition, invoice processing and document classification.
