June 4, 2008, Folsom, CA — Visan www.visan.com and www.rocketlife.com, the inventors of ground-breaking award-winning new media technologies, announced today that RocketLife outscored four other mainstream sites:  CVS, Kodak EasyShare Gallery, Shutterfly and Snapfish in a recent study by InfoTrends on consumer preferences for Web-based digital photo applications.

Visan commissioned InfoTrends to conduct a series of focus groups to understand user experiences and preferences for creating printed photo products with leading web-based digital photo applications.  Click on the following link for the full text of the white paper - http://www.rocketlife.com/home/pdf/RocketLifeWhitePaper.pdf.  InfoTrends recruited a variety of consumers with different levels of photo experience and had them compare the RocketLife service with other websites on eight major attributes including:

1. Speed/ease of uploading images.
2. Organization/viewing tools.
3. Editing/cropping/zooming.
4. Ease of selecting images.
5. Quality/variety of creative options.
6. Simplicity of creative tools.
7. Speed of creative tools.
8. Overall ease of use.

“RocketLife outscored the other four platforms on all eight of the attributes on which InfoTrends obtained consumer evaluations.  Thus, when all the attributes are summed and a mean level of satisfaction calculated, RocketLife achieves a solid lead over the other four sites,” stated Norman McLeod, InfoTrends.

RocketLife Rates 104% Higher for Ease of Use

The independent consumers felt that one of RocketLife’s greatest advantages was the speed and ease of getting started.  Most users can start a project within a few minutes of their first visit to the site -- even faster during their second visit.  RocketLife’s score for this “Overall ease of use” attribute was approximately 60% higher than the second-ranked site and 104% higher than the mean rating of the four other sites studied.

This “Overall ease of use” attribute was a key reason that the RocketLife users in nearly every instance placed more photos (more than 2 to 1 against the other sites combined) and got more accomplished within the same time-frame using RocketLife compared to the other programs. Another contributor to this advantage was the speed and effectiveness of RocketLife for automatically placing images into projects.  In RocketLife, a total of 2,039 photos were successfully placed into albums or on mugs versus only 979 photos for the other programs combined – a mean ratio of 2:1.

“The share of participants who are likely to use RocketLife again and would recommend it to others is especially compelling.  This kind of word-of-mouth marketing is critical to building overall consumer awareness for the category,” said Alan Bullock of InfoTrends.  “In our comparative sample, the majority of people placed more photos in their RocketLife book and got more accomplished within the same time period using RocketLife.  Product ease of use and speed increases the likelihood that consumers will actually order a piece of photo merchandise,” concluded Bullock.
