Nubel new Targus marketing VP
Anaheim-based Targus Inc., a provider of mobile lifestyle products, named Michael L. Nubel its new vice president of marketing. Nubel will handle strategic direction for the company's marketing efforts and focus on increasing revenue and maintaining Targus' market presence. Prior to joining Targus, Nubel was employed as vice president of sales and marketing by Viking Components of Rancho Santa Margarita.
Magic Software, iWay team up
Irvine-based Magic Software Enterprises, a provider of integration and development technology, and iWay Software, an information builders company, announced a partnership to provide intelligent, prepackaged adapters for the iBOLT Integration Suite. iBOLT includes capabilities for handling integration and exchanging transactions in a heterogeneous environment. It includes support for Business Process Management (BPM), monitoring and real time reporting. The availability of over 200 iWay Software adapters to the iBOLT Integration Suite enables organizations to connect to virtually any packaged application, mainframe and legacy system, traditional database, and to external data sources.
Iolo signs distribution pact with Lifeboat
Pasadena-based Iolo Technologies entered into an agreement with Lifeboat Distribution Services to distribute Iolo's utility software products, including the System Mechanic, a product that provides preventative PC maintenance.
Iolo is a developer and manufacturer of software products designed to enhance the performance and security of PCs running Microsoft Windows.
Pasadena robotics firm signs with Sony unit
Evolution Robotics Inc., a Pasadena-based provider robotics software technology, signed a technology licensing agreement with Entertainment Robot Co., a division of Tokyo-based electronics giant Sony Corp. Evolution Robotics and Sony will work to optimize ER Vision, an object recognition technology that could potentially increase functionality in Sony's future entertainment robots.
Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed. Evolution Robotics offers software, embedded systems and services to develop and bring to market robotic products for consumer and industrial use. It is an operating company of Pasadena-based technology think tank Idealab.
Lantronix settles lawsuit
Lantronix Inc., an Irvine-based producer of remote networking products, has agreed to pay $400,000 in cash and 49,038 shares of stock to settle claims brought against it by a company it acquired in December 2000. United States Software Corp. brought securities and employment claims against Lantronix. In addition, Lantronix will issue additional shares of common stock worth approximately $1.5 million in exchange for having all claims against it dropped.
Tickets.com names new CFO
Costa Mesa-based Tickets.com, a ticketing services provider, hired Christian Henry as the company's new chief financial officer. Henry is replacing Eric Bauer, who is leaving after three years to become CFO for Gap Inc.'s Banana Republic division. Bauer will continue to work with Henry and Tickets.com through a transition period.
eHelp starts donation program
San Diego-based eHelp Corp., the makers of RoboHelp, started its Academic Software Donation Program, committing a total of $12 million in RoboDemo eLearning Edition tutorial software to accredited colleges and universities across the nation. By participating in the Academic Software Donation Program, faculty will have the ability to easily develop professional eLearning curriculum. Schools can utilize their donated copies of RoboDemo in various ways, such as creating tutorials that teach end users how to master any software program, register for classes online, fill out Web-based forms and effectively navigate a school's Web site.
