SmartDM uses Data Junction technology
Austin-based Data Junction Corp. said SmartDM, a Nashville-based direct marketing firm serving sporting teams in the National Hockey League (NHL), Major League Baseball and the National Collegiate Athletic Association, is using Data Junction solutions to give their clients consolidated views of their data.
Data Junction cleanses and integrates data from a variety of sources into a proprietary data warehousing and marketing technology, DirectTR@K. Leveraging a consolidated view of client data, Smart DM accesses detailed customer information that empowers their clients to segment specific data for targeted marketing campaigns.
SyChip gains funding
Plano-based SyChip Inc., a maker of radio-frequency circuits and chip modules for the wireless industry, raised $15 million in its third round of private equity funding.
The company plans to use the money to grow its customer and partnership base, bolster production of some of its key products, expand the sales team and speed development of multiple radio wireless modules.
Range Online Media buys New York firm
Fort Worth-based Range Online Media, a privately held interactive marketing agency, acquired search engine optimization firm ZenHits of New York.
Range Online said the purchase would expand its offerings in natural search optimization, which involves using content, design and programming to position a Web site on search engines for relevant keywords.
Dunham new SMU engineering school dean
Jim Dunham, associate professor of electrical engineering at Southern Methodist University, has been appointed to associate dean for academic affairs for the SMU School of Engineering. He will be responsible for all the undergraduate and graduate academic programs offered by the school.
During his tenure at SMU, Dunham has also held the positions of assistant dean of computer operations, assistant dean of undergraduate and graduate studies and acting chair of the Department of Electrical Engineering.
SigmaTel updates D-Major decoder
Austin-based SigmaTel Inc. unveiled the third-generation D-Major STMP35xx product family for digital audio applications.
Designed with greater integration, including Hi-Speed USB, increased on-chip power-management and battery recharge capabilities, the STMP35xx product family will bring more features at an even lower materials cost for the designers of portable audio devices.
UTD to offer tech degrees
The University of Texas at Dallas in January will begin offering three degree programs in arts and technology that are believed to be the first of their kind in Texas and among only a small number in the United States, the school said.
The three degrees--a bachelor of arts, a master of arts and a master of fine arts, all in arts and technology--will be a collaboration between that school and UTD's Erik Jonsson School of Engineering and Computer Science.
Metrowerks, Peking University to team
Austin-based Metrowerks Corp.USA and Peking University's School of Software are planning to engage in a range of collaborative initiatives, including the creation of professional embedded software certification courses based on Metrowerks products.
The proposed collaboration includes plans for Embedded Systems Engineering Professional Certification (ESEPC) programs for students and engineers, aimed at enhancing the competitive position of the Chinese embedded software industry by training up to 2500 Linux operating system engineers by 2006.
JP Mobile teams with Ingram Micro
Dallas-based JP Mobile, a maker of enterprise mobility software, signed an agreement with Ingram Micro Inc. for the distribution of JP Mobile's flagship offering, SureWave Enterprise Server, in the U.S. and Canada.
SureWave allows enterprises users to use the handheld device of their choice, over the wireless network of their choice.
