Prime Visibility, a search engine marketing firm, will be offering a search engine marketing workshop on Nov. 6at the Garden City Hotel on Long Island.
Prime Visibility said the workshop will allow business owners more control over their online presence.
Popkin updates System Architect
New York-based Popkin Software, a developer of enterprise architecture tools and services, announced the latest version of its System Architect toolset, which expands the portfolio of industry standards it supports to include the Business Process Modeling Notation (BPMN).
BPMN is a rich notation that simplifies the modeling of complex business processes.
Netomat debuts multimedia service
New York-based Netomat, a maker of communication software and network-based art, announced the beta release of a new personal multimedia communication service. The beta (for both PC and Mac) is now available as a free download at www.netomat.net
With the service, anyone can create and publish or send multimedia Web sites, emails and blogs using any combination of digital pictures, audio, voice, text, free-form drawing and animation.
Netomat also lets users embed tools within these multimedia Web sites, emails and blogs, instantly turning them into personal collaborative spaces, communities, and bulletin boards.
TII names Intel exec to board
Copiague-based TII Network Technologies Inc., a maker of telecommunications network protection and management products, has named Charles H. House, director of societal impact of technology for Intel Corp., to its board.
House spent nearly 30 years at Hewlett-Packard, starting some 13 product-line divisions for them.
Patent ruling favors Symbol
A jury has found that products made by Holtsville-based Symbol Technologies Inc. did not infringe patents by Proxim Corp.
The verdict in the U.S. District Court for the District of Delaware was part of a larger case in which a separate jury on Sept. 15 found that Proxim products infringed some Symbol patents. In that action, the jury awarded Symbol six percent royalties on past Proxim sales, amounting to about $23 million before interest. Proxim makes broadband and wireless access cards.
LAS, ClearForest team up
New York-based software maker ClearForest announced a partnership with software maker Language Analysis Systems that will integrate the LAS multi-cultural name-recognition capabilities into ClearForest's content tagging and analysis software.
Customers using the ClearForest business intelligence tools will gain the ability to easily identify and normalize names across different languages, based on a set of cultural-based rules that understand name variations.
Synergx gains transit order
Syosset-based Synergx Systems Inc. secured a $1.8 million order for fire alarm, security, public address and communications systems for the mass transit system in New York City.
The firm did not give additional details about the order. Synergx makes and services data communication products and systems used for fire alarms, life safety devices and mass transit.
The firm operates in New York principally through its Casey Systems Inc. operations and in Texas through General Sound Co.
Barnikel new Sinbon manager
New York-based Sinbon Technologies named Robert Barnikel to manage its national sales operations.
Barnikel, a former global account sales manager for Sterling Commerce, will partner with Sinbon's U.S. sales teams.
Sinbon designs and makes customized USB, data capture, wireless communications, coaxial cable, wiring and cable assembly, Cable Push products and mobile computing accessory products.
