Pacific teams up with Feral Interactive

Bellevue-based Pacific Software Publishing Inc. announced the partnership agreement with British Macintosh game publisher Feral Interactive Ltd. to distribute localized game titles to the Japanese market. PSP Inc. will distribute Feral's Mac games to resellers and end users in Japan.

Emulex to buy Vixel

Vixel Corp. of Bothell will be purchased by Emulex Corp. for about $310 million in cash. Costa Mesa, Calif.-based Emulex also will assume all existing vested and unvested Vixel stock options. Both companies make equipment for the storage networking market.

EdGate unveils tech education center

Gig harbor-based EdGate, a provider of Internet-based learning content, unveiled the EdGate Career and Technical Education Center (EdGate C*TEC), a new online resource that helps prepare students for a wide range of careers and technical positions by providing current, interactive information on workplace opportunities.

The EdGate C*TEC was created by EdGate, in consultation with career and technical representatives from around the country including DECA, the International Center for Leadership in Education, Quality Learning, USA TODAY and others.

Ingeniux teams with Advanced Software

Seattle-based Ingeniux Corp., a provider of XML-based Web content management software, announced a technology integration partnership with Advanced Software, Inc. (ASI).

Ingeniux will offer ASI's patented DocuComp comparison feature with Ingeniux Content Management System.

The DocuComp comparison engine uses sophisticated pattern matching techniques to compare any two versions of a file, reporting inserted, deleted, replaced and even moved text.

Loudeye to provide ring tone content

Seattle-based Loudeye Corp. was chosen to provide music content for Cellus USA, a seller of content for mobile phones.

Parker, Colo.-based Cellus plans to offer music from Loudeye's archive of digital songs and song segments for its Ringback service, which allows mobile phone users to hear music rather than the standard ring tone in between the time a number is dialed and the party answers.

Besides providing content, Loudeye is taking care of managing label licensing and reporting.

OneEighty Networks buys competitor

OneEighty Networks Inc., a competitive local exchange carrier based in Spokane, purchased HighSpeed Communications LLC, a rival CLEC based in Walla Walla. Financial terms were not disclosed.

OneEighty Networks took over HighSpeed's Internet, private line, Web hosting and dial-up services in Washington and Oregon. The company said no significant job losses are expected as a result.

Also included in the purchase is access to HighSpeed's licensed wireless spectrum in Oregon, Hawaii, Nevada, Central California and Washington.

OneEighty Networks offers Internet and data services to customers throughout Northern Idaho and Eastern Washington.

3Com renews deal with Birdstep

Seattle-based Birdstep Technology said 3Com Corp. will continue using Birdstep's RDM Embedded as the database in their 3Com NBX Networked Telephony Solutions.

Birdstep Technology has over 20 years experience building databases designed for embedded applications.

CEO of Insightful resigns

Insightful Corp. of Seattle said Shawn Javid has resigned as chief executive officer of the company, after seven years with the company.

Jeff Coombs, the company's senior vice president of sales and marketing, was named interim CEO.

Insightful specializes in data mining, business analytics and information retrieval software.
