Agilisys selected by Apollo America

Atlanta-based Agilisys Inc., a maker of supply-chain management and ERP solutions in the process industries, said Japanese energy company Apollo America selected Agilisys ERP.

Self Test Software releases test prep products

Atlanta-based Self Test Software recently released test prep products for the following Microsoft Server 2003 exams: 70-290 Managing and Maintaining a Microsoft Windows Server 2003 Environment, 70-291 Implementing, Managing, and Maintaining a Microsoft Windows Server 2003 Network Infrastructure, 70-292 Managing and Maintaining a Microsoft Windows Server 2003 Environment for an MCSA Certified on Windows 2000, and 70-293 Planning and Maintaining a Microsoft Windows Server 2003 Network Infrastructure.

Fonix to buy LecStar Telecom

Fonix Corp. said it will acquire all of the capital stock of LTEL Holdings Corp. in a stock and debt transaction valued at $33 million. Privately held LTEL has two wholly owned subsidiaries, LecStar Telecom Inc., an Atlanta-based competitive local exchange carrier, and its sister company, LecStar Datanet Inc., a provider of Internet services to business and residential customers.

Blalock joins Reflex Security board

Reflex Security has added three new board members, including Southern Co. CIO Becky Blalock. Atlanta-based Reflex Security Inc. provides counter-offensive network and host security services.

Tech group names chair, chair-elect

The Technology Association of Georgia (TAG) named Dawn Patrick its new chair. Patrick is a lead partner in Deloitte's Strategic Client Services practice, where she serves technology, media and telecommunications companies. Patrick will serve a one-year term beginning January 2004. Also, Allen Moseley was designated vice chair-elect and will assume the chair responsibilities for the 2005 term. Moseley is a general partner at Noro-Moseley Partners, one of Atlanta's largest venture capital firms, where he actively works with a number of Noro-Moseley's portfolio companies specifically focusing on health-care services, information technology and business services.

American Software net income up

American Software Inc. reported its net income was up 15 percent in the second quarter of fiscal 2004. The Atlanta-based software company had net income of $2.3 million on $13.5 million in revenue in the second quarter, compared with net income of $2 million on $14.8 million in revenue for the second quarter of 2003. Earnings in the second quarter were flat at 9 cents a share. Through two quarters, the company had net income of $3.4 million on $26.6 million in revenue, compared with net income of $3.5 million on $29.3 million in revenue for the same period of 2003. Earnings through two quarters were 14 cents a share, compared with earnings of 15 cents a share in the same period of 2003.

Guy new iVivity sales VP

iVivity, an Atlanta-based maker of storage networking systems, appointed Dave Guy vice president of sales. Guy brings more than 40 years of experience in the computer industry with the past 25 years focused on the storage business. He has held senior leadership positions that span the spectrum of engineering, marketing and OEM sales with industry giants including Digital Equipment, EMC, Storage Technology Corporation and Honeywell.

Optio Software quarterly loss decreases

Optio Software Inc. said its third-quarter losses had decreased. The Atlanta-based business software company had a net loss of $357,000 on $6.4 million in revenue in the third quarter, compared with a net loss of $426,000 on $7.1 million in revenue in the third quarter of 2002. Loss per share for the quarter was flat at 2 cents. Earnings through nine months were 2 cents a share, compared with a loss per share of 21 cents in the same period last year.
