Atlanta Intellinet hires Johnston
Atlanta-based certified Microsoft consulting firm Intellinet, hired Mark C. Johnston, a Microsoft Corp. sales and channel partner executive, to expand the firm's information technology services business to the Gulf States region.
While at Microsoft, Johnston led sales teams to sell solutions based on Microsoft technologies to Fortune 1000 firms.
Viewlocity goes private
Atlanta-based Viewlocity Inc. has completed its transaction to go private.
Viewlocity merged with a wholly owned subsidiary of Viesta Inc., an entity created solely for the purposes of this transaction. Viewlocity is now a wholly owned subsidiary of Viesta, and is no longer publicly traded. The supply chain management software company will continue to operate as Viewlocity with the existing management team. The company plans to use its 70-plus supply chain customers to further penetrate the market for supply chain event management and visibility software and related products.
Transcend Services names executives
Atlanta-based Transcend Services Inc. added promoted Chief Operating Officer Thomas C. Binion to the additional position of president, named Joseph G. Bleser as chief financial officer and named Jeanne N. Bateman chief accounting officer.
PeoplePC to sell at Staples
Internet service provider PeoplePC, which is owned by Atlanta-based EarthLink Inc., will now offer its services in nearly 1,100 Staples stores across the country. New customers will receive PeoplePC's unlimited Internet service for $10.95 per month, with the first month free. PeoplePC Online subscribers get unlimited nationwide access with more than 9,000 local dial-up numbers and proprietary Smart Dialer technology that automatically connects them to the highest quality, most available number.
Proficient Systems gains financing
Atlanta-based Proficient Systems Inc. completed a $5 million round of financing and released the third version of its ProficientSales Server software in January. All of Proficient's institutional investors including GIMV, KineticVentures, Fuqua Ventures, and Labrador Ventures, along with Chairman and CEO Gregg Freishtat, participated in the round. The new capital will be used to expand Proficient's sales and marketing to accelerate its penetration of the financial services market with the 3.0 release of the ProficientSales Server.
Internap to serve Delaware government
Atlanta-based Internap Network Services Corp. will provide the state of Delaware IP transit connectivity supporting statewide government Internet usage, Web applications and e-government initiatives. Financial terms of the agreement were not disclosed. Internap will support general government Internet usage statewide, including remote access, select Internet applications and a number of Web sites maintained by the state of Delaware, including the Delaware Department of Transportation Website.
N2 Broadband gains funding
Atlanta-based N2 Broadband, a provider of video-on-demand services to cable operators and content providers, raised an additional $10 million in expansion financing. N2 Broadband has raised a total of $27 million to date. The company said the additional financing will be used to bolster N2 Broadband's sales and marketing efforts domestically, and allow the company to look toward international markets in cable and other broadband industries. In addition, N2 Broadband will use the funding to expand its OpenStream digital services platform.
EMS to provide flight set to XM Radio
EMS Technologies Inc. has received the fourth flight set award from Alcatel Space, a subsidiary of Alcatel for the high-power output assembly (HPOA) used by XM Satellite Radio. The latest flight set, valued at $1.5 million, will perform the critical signal combining on XM's powerful geostationary satellites, supporting the nation's leading satellite radio service transmission of 101 channels of high-quality digital radio to subscribers nationwide.
