Interland releases business products
Atlanta-based Interland, a provider of Web hosting and online services for small and medium-sized businesses, released two Platinum Business Solutions offerings. One is for accounting and tax professionals and the other for restaurateurs. In addition to a professionally built Web site, accountants and restaurateurs receive access to industry-specific online sales and marketing tools, and custom resource centers designed specifically to help small businesses achieve success online.
EMS gets EADS Astrium contract
Atlanta-based EMS Technologies Inc. received $2 million contract from EADS Astrium for work on the Eutelsat Hot Bird 8 spacecraft. The Hot Bird 8 satellite, the latest broadcasting satellite for Eutelsat, will be a Eurostar 3000 series satellite to provide video, radio, and data services from 13 degrees east longitude. The spacecraft is scheduled for launch in early 2006. It is scheduled to provide commercial services for a minimum of 15 years.
Joi Internet snags laid-off workers
Atlanta-based Joi Internet is hiring employees who are losing their jobs at competing ISP Earthlink. Joi said it has an immediate need to hire skilled workers in Atlanta. The company is also seeking workers for a new call center planned in the Southeast. People interested in working for Joi may apply at HR@hawkaccess.com. Clover selects Agilisys Advanced Scheduling
Atlanta-based Agilisys Inc., a maker of enterprise business products to manufacturing industries, said Clover, the largest dairy company in South Africa, has selected Agilisys Advanced Scheduling to optimize the production scheduling of their products. The Agilisys Advanced Scheduling solution will support Clover's production scheduling requirements for managing the challenges faced in their push-pull production environment. Clover will initially implement Agilisys Advanced Scheduling in four of their factories.
ChoicePoint buys Virginia company
ChoicePoint has bought Templar Corp., an Alexandria, Va.-based provider of advanced and secure information technology, for undisclosed terms. Templar's management team and approximately 30 associates are expected to remain with ChoicePoint. ChoicePoint provides identification and credential verification services.
NuBridges names new CEO
NuBridges LLC named Wain Kellum president and CEO. Tycho Howle, founder of NuBridges, will remain chairman. Wain most recently served as the founder, chairman and CEO of Extreme Logic, a professional services firm focused on the development and delivery of Microsoft-enabled IT products targeted to large- and medium-sized organizations. Wain led Extreme Logic from its founding in 1993 to a company that was selected as Microsoft's Partner of the Year in 2000. Atlanta-based NuBridges provides fully-managed inter-enterprise e-business connections and communities.
Agilysys to acquire Atlanta software firm
Cleveland-based software reseller Agilysys Inc. plans to buy Atlanta-based casino and resort hotel software provider Inter-American Data Inc. (IAD). Terms were not disclosed. IAD also develops and markets proprietary document management software with a focus on the hospitality, health care, retail and government markets.
North Carolina company buys Synaps
Cary, N.C.-based Engineous Software has bought Synaps Inc., an Atlanta-based software company that has a strong presence in the aerospace industry. Terms of the deal were not disclosed. Engineous and Synaps both provide engineering design optimization software and services.
