Sunland releases DVD burner

San Jose-based Sunland International, LLC began shipping its new Digistor 8X Dual DVD burner. Equipped with a combination USB 2.0/FireWire interface for plug-and-play PC connectivity and a complete suite of DVD authoring, editing, recording, and playback software, the Digistor 8x Dual DVD Burner provides a high-speed storage solution for video, audio and data; for backup/recovery and for digital archiving. In addition to providing 8x performance with write-once DVD+R media, the Digistor drive supports 4x- speed writes and rewrites with DVD-RW and DVD+RW media. It also writes CD-R media at 32x speed as well as Ultra-Speed CD-RW discs at 16-24x. The drive's access time of 140mbps for DVD and 120mbps for CD combines with read speeds of 12x for DVD-ROM and 40x for CD-ROM.

WorldSync product lauded at MacWorld

Berkeley-based WorldSync received a Macworld Best of Show Award for SyncDek 5.0, a data replication and synchronization technology for FileMaker databases. Representing hardware and software products announced at 2004 Macworld Conference & Expo in San Francisco, Calif., the "Macworld Best of Show Awards" are presented by IDG's Macworld, the premier Macintosh magazine and Web sites.

Montclair, Soft join forces

San Francisco-based Montclair Technology Inc. and New York-based Soft Inc. have formed an alliance to jointly market and support Montclair Technology's Compass for Market Data software system. Compass for Market Data is a browser-based management and control software system designed to help financial services firms better manage their procurement and usage of market data.

Funtigo upgrades photo-sharing site

San Francisco-based Funtigo LLC launched an upgrade to its photosharing site, Funtigo.com. Offering integrated PayPal e-commerce functionality, 10 free e-mail addresses and search engine optimization support, Funtigo now also targets small to medium-sized businesses. These new features supplement the existing features of Funtigo's Deluxe membership program, which includes a free domain name and storage for up to 1,000 photos.

StopWare announces Web hosting service

San Jose-based StopWare inc., providers of visitor management software, announced a new Web hosting service, MyVisitors.net, to extend pre-registration capabilities of its PassagePoint v4.1 visitor and lobby management software. MyVisitors.net extends StopWare's pre-registration capabilities, which include the intranet/Internet module, for pre-registration via a Web browser. MyVisitors.net is used in multi-tenant buildings, campuses, gated communities, for customers without a common network, or any organization that wishes to avoid using its own server for pre-registrations. By logging into MyVisitors.net, PassagePoint customers anywhere can pre-register visitors or groups. Within minutes of entry the visitor data is transmitted to the customer's reception area where PassagePoint is being used. Visitor info appears on the day the visitor or group is expected and badges can be printed in advance or upon arrival.

UTStarcom gains $40 million contract

UTStarcom Inc. of Alameda landed a new contract with China Netcom Corp. valued at approximately $40 million for additional deployments of its Personal Access System (PAS) equipment in China's Shandong province. China Netcom will expand and optimize its PAS platform in eight cities in the province. In addition, the contract includes a core network upgrade from PAS to IP-based iPAS, based on UTStarcom's Softswitch platform. More than 2.5 million people in Shandong have subscribed for PAS service since 1999.

NetSuite uptates analytics dashboards

San Mateo-based NetSuite Inc., announced the next generation of advanced real-time business intelligence and analytics dashboards. New usability features provide flexibility for ad hoc querying, editing, searching, sorting and working on dashboards.
