Altara makes pacesetter list
Bloomington-based Altara, a nationwide solutions partner for Microsoft Business Solutions, was named a Technology Pacesetter in the 2003 Accounting Today annual listing for the second year in a row. Altara was noted for its growth strategy of meeting clients' specific needs by reselling Microsoft Business Solutions packaged enterprise systems and enhancing them with integration into supporting technologies including Microsoft's Office and Exchange products.
Accounting Today's Technology Pacesetters 2003 report identified and surveyed the top 100 consultants and technology providers that provide accounting software to the small to middle market. Selection criteria included recognition by peers and business partners as leaders in the field, proven records as innovators, and top producers in revenue generation, as nominated by top software vendors and leading professional associations.
Winsted releases technical furniture line
Minneapolis-based Winsted has released a new line of standard rack cabinets, consoles, command centers, LAN/server stations, and tape/media storage cabinets. The company also released its new LCD3 Rack Mount Series, a line of welded back modular rack mount cabinets and accessories for LCD monitors.
Winsted's standard services include pre-shipment assembly of all System/85, Prestige Series and LCD3 consoles and racks; next-day shipment on all in-stock products; free 10-32 tapped rack rail replacement for punched front rail racks, and much more.
Regis picks Stellent
Eden Prairie-based Stellent, Inc., a provider of content management products, said Regis Corp., the largest owner, operator and franchisor of hair and retail product salons in the world, selected Stellent Universal Content Management to develop a more sophisticated intranet. The Stellent system will replace Regis current intranet, which requires a Web developer to manually add and update site content using HTML technology.
Benchmark, New Horizons to Merge
Edina-based Benchmark Learning Inc. and Richfield-based New Horizons Computer Learning Center of Minnesota signed a definitive merger agreement. This new company will be known as Benchmark/New Horizons Learning of Minnesota.
Benchmark/New Horizons Learning of Minnesota will operate as a franchise of New Horizons Computer Learning Centers, Inc. and will remain a Minnesota corporation. Phil Hinderaker of Benchmark Learning and John Myhre of New Horizons Computer Learning Center of Minnesota are co-owners and partners of the new combined company. Hinderaker and Myhre will jointly manage the Benchmark/New Horizons of Minnesota.
MCPI moves to Stillwater
Midwest Computer Programming & Internet relocated its offices to Greeley Square in Stillwater. MCPI is a database solution provider that develops Web sites ranging from single pages to complex database-driven applications.
Spanlink Communications teams with ScanSoft
Spanlink Communications, an IP contact center solution provider, announced a partnership with Peabody, Mass.based ScanSoft, Inc., a supplier of imaging, speech, and language solutions. Spanlink will offer ScanSoft's standards-based speech products, including SpeechWorks OpenSpeech Recognizer speech recognition software, Speechify text-to-speech (TTS) and SpeechSecure speaker verification software, to contact centers looking to make Interactive Voice Response (IVR) self-service a strategic element of their customer care plan.
New Boundary noted by TCBM
Minneapolis-based New Boundary Technologies, Inc., maker of software products for the enterprise network and remote management markets, received a "Small Business Success Stories" award from Twin Cities Business Monthly magazine.
The awards honor a select group of Minnesota-based businesses on the basis of entrepreneurial insight, diligence, growth, marketing acumen and managerial skill. Award winners were selected from among dozens of companies nominated by the magazine's readers.
