Witness Systems, BenchmarkPortal team up
Atlanta-based Witness Systems, a maker of performance optimization software and services, and Dallas-based BenchmarkPortal, Inc. announced a new strategic alliance that offers organizations a view of customer interactions, from captured examples and performance evaluations through to surveys indicating how customers rate their overall experiences. Witness Systems' eQuality software and BenchmarkPortal's Echo product combine the results of customer sales/service representative evaluations with customer-facing survey results, allowing users to quickly identify opportunities for improved customer service, in parallel with caller satisfaction and retention feedback.
Atlanta Consulting to resell AImed
San Diego-based Acrendo Software signed Atlanta Consulting Group to resell Aimed, Acrendo's Medical Practice Management software. Practices using AImed are able to realize reductions in data entry of up to 50 percent versus standalone applications, and the savings relative to paper-based manual methods is even greater, the company said.
Agilisys buys Daly.Commerce
Atlanta-based Agilisys Inc., a supplier of enterprise software solutions to manufacturing and wholesale distribution verticals, acquired Daly.Commerce. Based in Rhode Island, Daly.Commerce makes e-commerce enabled enterprise software to the wholesale distribution industry. The combined company will have more than 7,500 customers and 1,200 employees globally. Agilisys will also have approximately $45 million in cash on its balance sheet following the acquisition. Agilisys also bought Varial Software AG of Hamburg, Germany. Varial is a provider of financial, controlling, and human-resources software.
Interland poll results released
Atlanta-based Interland, a provider of Web hosting and online services for small and medium-sized businesses, revealed the results of a recent nationwide study, which shows a lack of understanding of the new CAN-SPAM Act among small businesses. Interland is making available a free, new publication, "A Small Business Guide to Understanding CAN-SPAM Legislation." According to the survey, which was conducted in February among small businesses already online, the majority (62 percent) have either not heard of CAN-SPAM or are unaware of how the Act affects their business. Yet the same respondents showed heavy dependence on e-mail communications. The CAN-SPAM Act of 2003 is the nation's first federal legislation regulating spam.
DigitalSwift files for patent
Atlanta-based DigitalSwift, the parent company of SwiftCD.com, filed a utility patent application on its build-to-order process, which enables a user to assemble a compact disc composed of user-selected contents while browsing a Web site. The provisional application was filed with the U.S. Patent & Trademark Office in 2002.
Per-Se Technologies may be delisted
Per-Se Technologies Inc., an Atlanta-based physician practice management technology company, faces a possible delisting from Nasdaq since it has not yet filed is annual report for 2003 with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission. The notification begins a process that includes an avenue for appeals, which will follow. Per-Se said it is in the process of requesting the hearing, which will stay the delisting process pending the panel's decision. Once the company's 2003 annual report is filed with the SEC, the company expects to be compliant with Nasdaq listing standards.
CAI buys Lodestone Solutions
Atlanta-based Coalition America Inc. (CAI) recently bought Atlanta data management firm, Lodestone Solutions LLC. Terms were not disclosed. CAI, which provides medical claims savings, said the acquisition will augment its portfolio of services to the payor community.
