Trustix updates pricing system
New York-based Trustix, provider of the Trustix Secure Enterprise Linux operating system, announced a new flexible pricing system specifically designed with payment packages tailored to match the billing cycle of the Web hosting community. Providing protection against stack-smashing and buffer overflow attacks Trustix Secure Enterprise Linux includes the industries leading fully automatic update engine SWUP. Recent enhancements also include full Samba 3.0 support and support for XFS, a journaling file system.
AverWeb gains VAR status
Westbury-based AverWeb Inc, an IT services firm providing messaging, productivity and security solutions, attained Authorized VAR status with PassGo Technologies. PassGo, with over 1000 customers worldwide, provides interoperable solutions for controlling, enabling and managing access rights and privileges for people, applications and devices.
Columbitech updates wireless suite
New York-based Columbitech announced version 2.0 of its Columbitech Wireless Suite. The new version eliminates start-up security gaps and it handles advanced smart card features, in addition to its convenient always-on connectivity and secure, seamless network roaming. With the new version, an IT administrator can authenticate the user, issue an emergency soft certificate, and grant the remote user access to the corporate server. This feature ensures that the user can access the server securely without delays even if a smart card is lost.
Symbio releases management suite
New Rochelle-based Symbio Technologies released its Symbiont Management Suite, a terminal services package that reduces the complexity of setting up and administering a diskless thin client network. By accessing their Windows and Linux applications using diskless thin clients that boot up through a server configured with The Symbiont Management Suite, businesses of all sizes can reduce the total cost of ownership for their computer network, the company said. The suite offers a Linux-based, business-class networking solution. By installing the suite on a server, responding to easy, on-screen prompts, and attaching diskless thin clients, companies can easily access their server-based applications, whether they are Windows, Linux, or Mac programs.
Proginet updates CyberFusion
Garden City-based Proginet, developer of software to enable the secure integration of data across enterprises of all sizes, released CyberFusion 5.5, an enhanced version of its secure file transfer software. With CyberFusion 5.5, businesses with small IT departments--and as few as 500 employees--can quickly and easily deploy and use the software for secure file transfer. CyberFusion was originally designed to let large enterprises exchange information securely across different computing systems and diverse geographic areas.
Boundless files Chapter 11
Hauppage-based Boundless Corp., the parent company of Boundless Technologies and Boundless Manufacturing Services, filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection. The company said it is working with a debtor-in-possession financier to provide it with cash as it reorganizes. Boundless said it anticipates many customers will "experience an improvement in service" during the bankruptcy due to that additional financing. Boundless makes desktop computer components, including printed circuit board assemblies and monitors and keyboards.
Netomat launches communication service
New York-based Netomat Inc., a maker of communication software and network-based art, released its new personal multimedia communication service, Netomat 1.0. With the launch of Netomat 1.0, a free service, users can create their own living spaces online. Netomat spaces are live multimedia channels of communication between users and their friends, family, and co-workers.
