Enlight ships racing game
Parkville-based Enlight, an entertainment software developer and
publisher, recently shipped its hybrid racing game, "TrackMania," to
retail stores across North America. The North American version of
"TrackMania" contains enhanced Internet play, a unique avatar system, a
new survival mode, ghost competition cars and 60 new building blocks
such as tunnels, land transitions, signs and turbos.
Baesch bought by Unisys
Unisys Corp. has acquired Baesch Computer Consulting Inc., a Glen
Burnie-based company that serves the U.S. intelligence and defense
communities. Baesch Computer was started by its CEO, Bobby Baesch, in
1995. Terms were not disclosed. Baesch will become a vice president and
general manager within the Unisys Global Public Sector group,
specializing in intelligence and defense offerings.
ServerShots launches site
North East-based ServerShots said its new Web site was open for sales.
ServerShots is an alternative game server status tool that allows users
to detect a server's status, settings, and number of players.
ServerShots boasts the ability to offer real-time status in a portable
format. A ServerShot can be integrated with any Web site, e-mail, or
other http-capable document.
MMR releases scanner software
Bethesda-based MMR Software announces the launch of their new software,
MiniPro. MiniPro will extract barcode data from the CS-1504 personal
barcode scanner, and export the data to over 30 different formats. The
CS-1504 is a personal hand scanner developed by Symbol Technologies. The
CS-1504 can export to such formats as PDF, CSV, XLS, RPT, DIF, character
separated, EXCEL, HTML, LOTUS, ODBC, RTF, Text, Word, and XML.
Five companies join tech program
Five new companies recently joined Baltimore's Emerging Technology
Center program. Moving into the flagship ETC@Canton building are: Alba
Therapeutics, a biopharmaceutical company; and CargoTel Inc., which is
developing wireless Internet technologies for transportation and storage
companies. Moving into the ETC@Eastern, the city's newest incubator,
are: ImageGuide, which is developing systems integrating robotics with
medical therapies; Juxtopia, which is developing simulation technologies
for biotechnology processes and medical procedures; and, Project
Foundations, which provides online analytical reporting to technology
project managers.
Buan gets GSA contract
Annapolis-based Buan Consulting Inc. received a contract award for GSA's
Section 8(a) Streamlined Technology Acquisition Resources for Services
contract, known as STARS. It is an indefinite-delivery,
indefinite-quantity (IDIQ), five-year contract with options,
government-wide acquisitions contract, with a valued ceiling of $15
billion over a seven-year period. Buan will sell IT services to all
federal government agencies.
Formentin joins Advertising.com
Baltimore-based Advertising.com Inc., a provider of interactive
marketing services, named Robert Formentin vice president of Advertiser
Services Formentin will be charged with overseeing the company's
regional sales offices and sales support functions. He will be based in
Advertising.com's New York office.
Mueller new SafeNet CFO
Belcamp-based SafeNet promoted Carole Argo to president and chief
operating officer and named former Microsoft executive Ken Mueller its
chief financial officer. Argo, SafeNet's former CFO, will oversee the
company's day-to-day operations, with a particular focus on mergers and
acquisitions. Mueller is responsible for all accounting, finance,
treasury and legal functions. Both will report to CEO Anthony Caputo.
SafeNet provides information security products and services to corporate
and government customers.
