Oracle group plans free training day
The North Central Oracle Applications User Group (NCOAUG) will hold its
10th Anniversary Summer 2004 Training Day on Friday, August 13, 2004 at
Harper College, in Palatine. This free one-day event offers a full
agenda of the latest information on Oracle Applications, including
in-depth training and information tracks designed to bring users up to
date on application functionality, enhancements and implementation
techniques. In addition, the NCOAUG 2004 Training Day will feature
module overviews, industry specific breakout sessions, demonstrations at
the Oracle Campground, vendor exhibits and presentations.
Dean joins Blackwell Consulting
Chicago-based Blackwell Consulting Services said Michael Dean joined the
company as an account manager, network services. Dean is responsible
for the growth and development of the practice, developing strategic
partnerships with leading networking vendors, penetrating new accounts
and supporting the needs of existing clients, specifically focusing on
the commercial business sector.
Cohen new MusicNow president
Chicago-based MusicNow LLC, a provider of customized digital music
stores and subscription services, announced several changes to its
management team. Gary Cohen, co-founder of MusicNow and digital music
veteran, has been appointed to serve as the company's president. Scott
Kauffman has stepped down as MusicNow's chief executive officer but will
remain a member of the MusicNow Board of Managers. Chris Gladwin,
MusicNow's chief operating officer and co-founder, is leaving the
company.
Technoprises debuts Jumbox
Chicago-based Technoprises Ltd., a maker of end-to-end cross-media for
operators and content providers, introduced Jumbox, a new Internet
connected set-top box for TVs. In addition to enabling viewers to watch
standard TV and HDTV programs via cable or satellite, Jumbox gives
viewers movies-on-demand via high speed Internet as well as access to
VoIP and a wireless connection. The Jumbox technology uses the Linux
operating system, and was designed with a modular layout that allows
communication providers freedom in selecting their desired configuration
while also offering broadcast over IP.
MKP Capital pickes Interface
Oak Brook-based Interface Software said New York-based MKP Capital
Management (MKP), an investment advisor specializing in fixed income
alternative investment products, selected InterAction as the firm's
strategic CRM solution. MKP will deploy InterAction as the central
repository for the firm's Relationship Intelligence to derive a view of
all client and prospect relationships, history and activities.
D-Link releases xStack Series
Chicago-based D-Link announced the xStack Series of five switches, the
industry's most affordable stackable Gigabit Ethernet switch line with
integrated 10-Gigabit support. The D-Link xStack series of switches
offers IT managers a Managed Layer 2/3/4 stackable solution with
high-densities of up to 48 gigabit ports in a single 1U-high stackable
unit and scalability of up to 336 Gigabit ports per stack with up to
176Gbps of switching capacity.
InstallShield bought by Macrovision
Santa Clara, Calif.-based Macrovision Corp. completed the acquisition of
privately-held InstallShield Software Corp. of Schaumburg. The
acquisition expands Macrovision's product portfolio in the Software
Value Management category and enables Macrovision to reach
InstallShield's large software developer customer base. InstallShield
will be integrated into Macrovision's Software Technologies Group
Cybercucina.com gets perfect rating
Wayne-based La Cucina Rustica LP, owner of the Cybercucina.com web site,
announced the results of a customer satisfaction survey of its online
shoppers conducted with Shopping.com. The results showed that 100
percent of all survey respondents would shop again at Cybercucina.com.
This survey earns the online retailer of specialty food products the
coveted "Trusted Merchant" status with Shopping.com.
