Sloan Foundation funds high-tech cooperative

The Atlanta-based American High-Tech Co-op, a not-for-profit organization offering corporations an inexpensive alternative to software outsourcing, received a grant from Sloan Foundation. The Sloan Foundation, founded in 1934, is dedicated to promoting the positive impact of technology on society. AHTC's mission is to keep software contracts in the United States and to help high-technology craftsmen, such as software programmers. Programmers in the Co-op can expect to make approximately the same income as they would in a regular job. The infrastructure of the non-profit organization results in a cost to corporations that is often less than the cost of outsourcing. The added benefits of using domestic programmers adds crucial value to the savings.

Dorian releases Event Analyst 3.5

Atlanta-based Dorian Software Creations Inc. announced the release of Event Analyst 3.5, the latest version in its industry-leading event log reporting and auditing tool.

Event Analyst's prepackaged reports have been enhanced for faster reporting against Microsoft Access or ODBC database servers through the use of internal filtering. In addition, the inclusion of an Event Research Window empowers administrators to find out more about certain types of events at Dorian Software's Event Log Resource site, EventLogs.com. The Event Research Window in Event Analyst streamlines routine event log viewing for security professionals by centralizing much of the log entry research process within one interface.

SwiftCD brings build-to-order to FileFront

Atlanta-based SwiftCD said the game download site FileFront will use SwiftCD's build-to-order technology to give users more freedom when choosing shareware, freeware or game demos from its download areas.

FileFront users can now choose one or more software demos from the thousands available at FileFront, then have the files burned to a custom CD and mailed to them.

FileFront has news, reviews, forums, and over 360,000 files, including game demos, patches, videos, add-ons, and freeware.

SwiftCD also said that it has teamed with Ocloud Software, the maker of Shareware Assistant, to provide a new and improved, integrated software solution for software developers wishing to use SwiftCD for physical delivery of their products. Shareware Assistant is a program designed to assist developers in tracking their sales, processing orders automatically and assisting in better management and organization of customer information.

EMS buys Florida defense electronics business

EMS Technologies Inc. has bought key assets of Clearwater, Fla.-based Multitech Corp. for an undisclosed amount.

The assets purchased are those directly related to Multitech's defense electronics business, and include hardware, software and intellectual property critical to radar, communication, remote sensing, optical tracking, and electronic countermeasure systems.

Multitech's assets will be aligned with EMS' Space & Technology/Atlanta Division, and key Multitech leadership and engineering personnel are now employed by EMS. The resulting operation is expected to operate in both Space & Technology's current facilities in Norcross and in Multitech's current facilities in Clearwater.
