Beige Bag releases B2 Spice v5.0

Ann Arbor-based Beige Bag Software released B2 Spice v5.0 in August.

The software's major enhancements include: A test mode, equivalent to the standard SPICE analyses and a separate Simulation mode that is a continuous Transient simulation that allows you to interactively alter device and circuit parameters and examine the results immediately.

It also includes layered sweeps, meaning users can step almost any device or circuit parameter on top of any test.Any user who purchases v4.2 after August 1st will receive a free upgrade to v5.0 upon release.

Codespear to build communication system

The city of Worcester, Mass., will use communications technology from Birmingham-based Codespear for its Metro Medical Response System.

Codespear's SmartMSG technology is a multilingual, secure communications system that provides instant messaging and allows for urgent notification.

SmartMSG notifications and high-priority alerts can be sent immediately to most devices, including desktop computers, cell phones, wireless PDAs, fax machines, text pagers and Voice over IP, to one or to all simultaneously.

Codespear makes urgent-communications software for enterprises.

Ilium releases eWallet 4.0 for Windows Mobile

Ann Arbor-based Ilium Software released eWallet 4.0, the new and most advanced version of the software utility for Microsoft Windows

Mobile-based Pocket PCs, Smartphones, and Windows operating systems.

Incorporating many new features, including nested categories, shareable wallet files, and exciting new SyncPro technology, eWallet makes secure storage and organization of credit card numbers, passwords, health information, PINs and other confidential data easier and simpler than ever, the company said.

NuSoft to design software for Childtime

Childtime Learning Centers Inc. selected Bloomfield Hills-based NuSoft Solutions Inc. to design new business software.

NuSoft will design and develop a Web-based system to replace aging business systems currently in use by the company's more than 400 centers.

Childtime owns Tutor Time Child Care/Learning Centers and Childtime Learning Centers.

Standpipe upgrades Vertabase

Madison Heights-based Standpipe Studios upgraded Vertabase Pro, its Web-based project management application, to Version 3.6.

Vertabase Pro 3.6 extends the product's suite of easy-to-use project management and analysis tools by providing a new video-based Learning Center with both specific Vertabase Pro usage tips and general project management advice, support for Intuit Inc.'s QuickBooks financial software, a new project planning mode for project whiteboarding and other usability updates.

The new Learning Center is designed to complement Standpipe's existing live customer support and documentation. In addition, the Learning Center includes project management tips and best practices on using Vertabase Pro delivered via short videos through the Vertabase Pro client.

Perceptron adds resellers

Plymouth-based Perceptron Inc. added eight new resellers of its products.

The eight resellers will sell Perceptron's Scanworks 3D. The resellers are in Kentucky, South Carolina, Oklahoma, Illinois, New York, Washington, Mexico, Ontario and Quebec.

Perceptron makes laser-based products and software used in testing and design.

Grand Haven is first Wi-Fi city

Grand Haven has become the nation's first city to provide citywide wireless Internet access.

The city's new wireless system, developed by Grand Haven-based Internet provider Ottawa Wireless Inc., uses hundreds of access points and point-to-point radios throughout the city to cover six square miles. Service also is available 15 miles into Lake Michigan.

Other cities have announced intent to build similar networks, and many already have partial wireless coverage.
