IP House debuts

Minneapolis-based IP House, a new Minneapolis-based ISP offering high-speed Internet access, colocation and other technology services throughout the Twin Cities, recently opened for business. The company was been founded by former top managers of VISI.com, the state's largest business-to-business ISP. At the same time, IP House announced the acquisition of two of the best-known ISPs in the Twin Cities, GoldenGate Internet and Bitstream Underground.

Leading IP House is CEO Bil MacLeslie, former general manager of VISI.com and a former president of the Minnesota Internet Trade Association. Joining MacLeslie are CFO Bill Lyon and CTO Michael Horwath, who had served as controller and director of Technical Services at VISI.com respectively. IP House will offer Twin Cities homes and businesses dial-up, DSL and other high-speed Internet connectivity, along with colocation, Web hosting, and other services.

New Boundary finishes patch management ebook

Minneapolis-based New Boundary Technologies, which makes remote automation software, announced the third and final chapter of "The Administrator Shortcut Guide to Patch Management." Sponsored by New Boundary Technologies and published by Realtimepublishers, the eBook offers a comprehensive look at the challenges and benefits of automated software patch management.

Chapter 3 of "The Administrator Shortcut Guide to Patch Management" delivers an overview of the available tools for automating and managing this mission-critical IT function, and criteria for selecting the right patch management solution for your environment. Clockwork launches survey tool

Minneapolis-based Clockwork Active Media Systems, a Web-based product and services developer, released its Active Survey Kit (ASK) for mid-market companies.

The data-collection tool allows for surveys to be created, edited, proofed and published within minutes. Data is collected and can be filtered to generate data-specific reports. Reports are viewable via the Web and can be translated to text for printable, customizable delivery.

ASK can also be used for creating quizzes, tests, and Web polls.

Microboards debuts 10-recorder DVD duplicator

Chanhassen-based Microboards Technology announced the addition of a ten-recorder duplicator to its tower duplicator line. This affordable, professional-level CD/DVD copying system is easy-to-use and fully contained, operating without being connected to a computer.

The CopyWriter Tower is the only duplicator on the market available with up to 10 drives in a single tower. In addition, the CopyWriter tower series has configurations of up to 16 recorders in a twin-tower system.

Eschelon opens office in Washington state

Minneapolis-based Eschelon Telecom Inc., a provider of voice, data, Internet services and business telephone systems, has opened a new office in Tacoma, Wash.

The 3,500-square-foot facility features a demonstration room that will allow customers to test telephone systems.

Eschelon serves more than 1,500 small-to-medium-sized businesses in the area. It also has sales offices in Seattle, as well as three in Oregon.

Digital Angel seeks patent

South St. Paul-based Digital Angel Corp., which develops identification technology, is due to receive a patent for a comprehensive livestock tracking system.

The U.S. Patent and Trademark Office has allowed the company's patent application for a proprietary livestock chute antenna, a key part of its tracking system, according to a statement.

The antenna is part of an overall tracking system Digital Angel developed that allows livestock owners to track animals throughout their lifecycle. The "chute antenna" is bolted on the head gate or chute used in more than 2,000 feedlots in the country. When the chute closes, the antenna automatically scans a radio-frequency microchip attached or implanted in the animal's ear.
