Cole releases sales tool
New York-based Cole Systems released OrderPad Enterprise, a software
tool that lets field and mobile sales representatives make more informed
selling decisions during in-person sales calls.
Optimized to run on the Tablet PC, OrderPad Enterprise takes full
advantage of the platform's features and benefits including the
ease-of-use of digital ink and ink-to-text recognition.
CBL gains Dell authorization
Armonk-based CBL Data Recovery Technologies Inc., a provider of computer
data recovery services, was authorized by Dell Inc. to perform data
recovery services on all Dell hardware worldwide.
Dell users who suffer data loss regardless of location can now contact
any CBL facility or authorized partner worldwide and arrange to have
their media delivered for recovery.
Xandros releases OS
New York-based Xandros, a developer of Linux products, released the
Xandros Desktop Operating System (OS) PowerTerm Edition to provide
secure access to applications running on legacy enterprise systems.
By bundling Ericom's PowerTerm InterConnect for Linux with the Xandros
Desktop OS Business Edition, Linux desktop users can now connect to
applications running on IBM Mainframe, IBM AS/400, OpenVMS, Unix, Linux,
Tandem, Data General, HP-3000, and other enterprise platforms.
IBG gains defense contract
New York-based International Biometric Group (IBG) and Michigan State
University were recently awarded a six-month contract by the Department
of Defense through the United States Army Research Office's STTR
Program.
The research will help in developing systems that fuse multiple
biometric modalities such as iris, face, and fingerprint technologies in
operational scenarios.
IBG will design experimental systems with customized fusion algorithms
to combine the results of multiple biometric products into a single
identification and verification decision process.
Advanced expands conversion service
Pittsford-based Advanced Computer Innovations Inc. expanded its
Internet-based online conversion service to include the latest
WordPerfect Suite 11. It now converts users' files between most word
processor, spreadsheet and graphics file formats, as well as some
database formats.
Broadview certified by Purdue
New York-based Broadview Networks, a network-based electronically
integrated communications provider, has become the first
telecommunications company to be certified as a Center of Excellence for
customer service by Purdue University's Center for Customer-Driven
Quality.
To earn the Center of Excellence designation, Broadview Networks' call
center had to meet objective, quantitative criteria and pass audits by
researchers from BenchmarkPortal, custodian of the world's largest
database of call center performance metrics.
Infosys debuts job bid site
Plainview-based software firm Infosys International has posted a Web
site (www.NY-homelandsecurity.com) that aims to match federal
procurement offerings with companies.
So far about 150 Long Island companies have signed up for the free
service, which uses software to check the Homeland Security offerings
each night and notify companies meeting the profile that a contract is
available.
Imaginova updates astronomy products
New York-based Imaginova Corp. released version 5.0 of its astronomy
software products Starry Night Enthusiast and Starry Night Pro.
The new versions offer many new features, including SkyGuide's
interactive, multimedia tours, SkyCalendar and powerful observational
tools that let users experience the night sky in realistic detail.
TransMedia teams with ASCAP
The American Society of Composers, Authors and Publishers (ASCAP)
entered into an agreement with New York-based TransMedia for the use of
its Colaborata 2.5 digital media management and collaboration platform.
Colaborata 2.5 provides an integrated, online media environment to
securely manage and preview music, videos, pictures, documents and
related information.
