Click Commerce updates Business Suite

Chicago-based Click Commerce Inc., which provides collaborative extranet solutions, released the 7.5 Business Suite.

The new version contains integrated ordering and after-market services processes, along with business process improvements, such as multi-threaded workflow and cycle-time reporting to help customers drive continuous improvements in their channel operations.

Click Commerce also said it was named one of Chicago's fastest growing technology companies, reporting an 83 percent growth rate. This is the fourth consecutive year that Click Commerce received the ranking from Deloitte's prestigious Technology Fast 50 Program for Chicagoland, a ranking of the fifty fastest growing technology companies in the area by Deloitte & Touche LLP. Rankings are based on the percentage of growth in fiscal year revenues over five years, from 1999-2003.

AeA opens Midwest office

Washington, D.C.-based AeA, a high-tech trade association, reopened its Midwest office, to be located in Oakbrook Terrace.

AeA, founded in 1943 by David Packard, represents all segments of the technology industry and is dedicated solely to helping its members' top line and bottom line. Currently, AeA has 17 offices in and around the United States, as well as offices abroad in Brussels and Beijing.

Motorola to buy software firm

Chicago-based Motorola Inc. agreed to acquire Crisnet Inc., a software firm that develops record-keeping systems for law enforcement, justice and public safety agencies.

Crisnet, based in Salt Lake City, has been developing software applications since 1984 that are used for tasks ranging from automating work flow to analyzing crime patterns. Its products include NetRMS, a Web-based records management system, and Crisnet Cruiser, which allows personnel in the field to work case files from a mobile unit.

Info.com launches site

Chicago-based Info.com, a search platform that pulls together results from the 14 leading search engines, today launched its official site at www.info.com.

Info.com features information sources, including Web search, news, comparative shopping, product reviews, pictures and more.

Uncover the Net joins consortium

Hoffman Estates-based Uncover the Net announced its membership in the World Wide Web Consortium, the nonprofit organization that serves as the Internet's governing body.

Uncover the Net is the first and only Web site directory to join this group, whose members include Google, Intel, Sony, Macromedia and Microsoft.

TeleContinuity opens Chicago office

Chicago-based TeleContinuity, a provider of a disaster-proof and survivable backup telecommunications network, opened a Chicago office.

The Chicago office, located 140 South Dearborn Street, Suite 900, will include staff responsible for service implementation, sales and marketing.

Canary launches digital Wi-Fi detector with LCD

Chicago-based Canary Wireless said it released the first digital Wi-Fi detector. The company's flagship product, The Digital Hotspotter, is the first Wi-Fi detection and analysis tool with an LCD display that provides essential network information to Wi-Fi users and technology professionals.

The company said that unlike current analog Wi-Fi detector offerings that only detect signal availability and strength, Canary Wireless's offering is the only device of its kind to provide smart signal analysis. This includes network ID, encryption status and channel data for multiple networks.
