CovalentWorks debuts EDI service
Houston-based CovalentWorks announced the availability of Web-based EDI
service with most large industrial companies. CovalentWorks‚ Web-based
EDI service enables small and mid-sized businesses to easily exchange
EDI transactions with all their business partners.
CovalentWorks clients use the internet and email to access easy-to-use
web forms. The solution enables suppliers to send and receive EDI
documents without having to re-key information. Advance ship notices and
invoices are automatically created from purchase orders. Bar code
numbers for shipping container labels are supported as well.
Data Management makes fast-growing company list
San Angelo-based Data Management Inc, makers of TimeClock Plus˙s time
and attendance products, was ranked 411th on the 2004 Deloitte North
America Technology Fast 500, a ranking of the 500 fastest growing
technology companies in North America.
Rankings are based on average percentage revenue growth over five years,
from 1999-2003. Data Management grew 416 percent during this period.
Texas memory debuts solid state disk
Houston-based Texas Memory Systems Inc announced availability of a new
solid state disk model, the RamSan-325.
The 250,000 I/Os per second RamSan-325 is available in capacities of
128GB, 96GBs, 64GB, and 32GB. The RamSan-325 addresses growing
requirements for higher capacity solid state disk systems and extends
Texas Memory Systems‚ scalability and density advantages over competing
solutions.
The RamSan-325 can accelerate I/O intensive applications such as
databases up to 2,500 percent by delivering random data at sustained
rates exceeding 1.5Gbps.
Limelight Networks, BuyDRM team up
Austin-based BuyDRM said Limelight Networks, a digital delivery network
provider, will support BuyDRM's new PayMedia service offering
pay-per-view, pay-per-minute, and subscription services for content
owners and licensees.
The offering will be powered by the KeyOSTM DRM Platform from BuyDRM.
Blachno new Eagle Broadband CFO
Houston-based Eagle Broadband Inc., which provides broadband, IP, and
satellite communications technology and services, named Eric I. Blachno
chief financial officer.
Blachno, formerly with IBM, Bear Stearns and Luminent, assumes the
position from Richard Royall.
CD3 teams with Streamwaves
Austin-based CD3, makers of Discgear CD/DVD storage products, will
partner with Streamwaves, Inc. to offer a free gift with purchase to all
Discgear customers. The campaign will be featured at all participating
Discgear cart locations.
All Discgear product purchases at a mall cart this holiday season will
receive the offer, which includes one month of free personalized
streaming music as well as five free downloads with every purchase.
Supermarket cooperative picks TPS
Wakefern Food Corporation, a retailer-owned supermarket cooperative
headquartered in Elizabeth, N.J., chose TPS/NetWork File Manager to
replace its mainframe file distribution system.
Wakefern had used this distribution system to exchange data among its
mainframe, RS/6000s, and IBM 4690s for distributive processing, as well
as Stratus systems, which are used to handle its warehouse management
systems.
The need to convert from SNA file transfers to TCP/IP transfers
initiated the search for a replacement. In addition to NFM, Wakefern
reviewed two other file distribution products from large software
companies. However, neither of them was able to provide IBM 4690
support.
CDMWorld.com debuts AdDriller software
Fort Worth-based CDMWorld.com Inc., a software development firm,
recently released AdDriller software. AdDriller is an adware killing
program that hunts down and drills out over 30,000 known adware,
spyware, trojan, dialer, popup, and scumware programs.
AdDriller works by analyzing the files, registry and processes on the
computer and detects any malignant software. Once this negative software
is isolated, the AdDriller system quarantines it and prevents the spread
of it into the computer.
