Blue Wave debuts travel system
King of Prussia-based Blue Wave Solutions released Waveworx, a Web-based
cruise distribution system that lets online cruise industry companies
automate the entire cruise booking process.
Waveworx offers all businesses focused on selling cruises--travel
agencies, independent agents, cruise lines and tour operators--automated
and easy-to-use tools for enabling online bookings; distributing,
managing and optimizing cruise inventories; maximizing yields; managing
group sales; and increasing per transaction revenues, all the while
reducing the total costs of sales.
Scanvec Amiable execs swap titles
The CEO and chairman of Philadelphia-based Scanvec Amiable Inc. will
switch positions at the end of this year.
President and CEO Ramon Harel will become chairman of Scanvec's board of
directors, replacing Mark Blundell, who will become Scanvec's president
and CEO. Harel founded the company in 1989.
Scanvec Amiable provides software for the sign making, digital printing,
screen printing and CNC machining industries.
Neoware among fastest-growing companies
Neoware Systems, which makes software, services, and appliances for
thin-client computing, ranked Number 396 on the 2004 Deloitte Technology
Fast 500, a ranking of the 500 fastest growing technology companies in
North America.
Rankings are based on percentage revenue growth over five years, from
1999-2003. Neoware grew 439 percent during this period.
Formation fills Norway disk order
Moorestown, N.J.-based Formation Inc. delivered the first of its
ToughDisk line of rugged hard disks to Kongsberg Defense & Aerospace in
Kongsberg, Norway.
Kongsberg selected the company's TD7200 model disk to provide data
storage for a ship based weapons system being developed for the Royal
Norwegian Navy.
Franklin puts Adobe deal on fast track
Burlington City, N.J.-based Franklin Electronic Publishers Inc. will
speed up development of linguistic technology for 13 languages for Adobe
Systems Inc. and provide Adobe with linguistic technology for an
additional three languages.
Franklin agreed in June to provide Adobe with linguistic technology for
13 languages through its Proximity Technology division, which develops
software that provides spelling error detection/correction, hyphenation,
and thesaurus and dictionary functionality.
Adobe, which develops graphic and publishing software, has used
Proximity technology in its products since 1988.
Triton PCS to buy wireless company
Berwyn-based Triton PCS Holdings Inc. will acquire Urban Comm--North
Carolina Inc. for $113 million in cash.
The acquisition would give Triton licenses to provide wireless
communications services in eight markets in North Carolina, seven in
Virginia and five in South Carolina with a total population of 7.4
million.
Triton will serve markets with a population of 14.3 million in the
Southeast and 4 million in Puerto Rico and the U.S. Virgin Islands, if
its agreed-upon swap of networks with Cingular Wireless LLC and AT&T
Wireless Service Inc. is approved later this year.
Miles buys AVselect.com
Moorestown, N.J.-based Miles Technologies, a provider of business
technologies software, bought AVselect.com, a privately held Web
development and hosting services company based in London, Ontario.
AVselect.com provides network environments to host Web sites, e-mail,
business applications and other Web-related content. The company
specializes in delivering targeted services to the aviation business.
