Matrix, Magnetar Games team up on WWII strategy game
Staten Island-based Matrix Games secured the rights to publish Magnetar
Games licensed computer adaptation of Bruce Harper's acclaimed board
game, A World At War.
Design and development is underway with no set release date. A World At
War is a grand strategy game which simulates the military, economic,
political, diplomatic, research and production aspects of the Second
World War. The computer adaptation will focus on online collaborative
play using a series of new technologies developed by Magnetar Games for
this purpose, including FederationX and ExForce. A second phase will
include full computer AI support for solo play.
Swedish parliament picks Columbitech
New York-based Wireless security software vendor Columbitech said the
Swedish Parliament has chosen the Columbitech Wireless VPN solution to
provide all 349 Parliament delegates with high-security, independent
online access to the Parliament's corporate network.
Delegates are equipped with a notebook PC that includes a smart card
reader, a mobile phone that can be used as a GPRS modem, wireless ADSL
connection for home use, and access to various hot spots around Sweden,
all of which they can now use securely to access the Parliament's
network.
CBL expands Brazil facility
Armonk-based CBL Data Recovery Technologies Inc. expanded its laboratory
facilities in Curitiba, Brazil.
The move follows the company's recent expansion in San Diego, California
and Singapore, as well as the opening of a data recovery lab in Japan.
Symbio debuts reseller program
New Rochelle-based Symbio Technologies began a new training and
certification program for its value-added resellers.
Symbio is offering a two-day Symbiont Certified Engineer class and a
two-day Symbiont Certified Developer program.
Symbio makes software that manages true diskless thin client networks
running Windows and Linux applications
ThumbPlay launches wireless music business
New York-based ThumbPlay, a new company that plans to deliver wireless
content to networks and devices, launched recently.
The firm says it will serve the needs of the growing mobile media
industry, enabling television producers, music artists and producers,
film and Internet producers, mobile handset manufacturers, retailers,
and mobile operators to deliver mobile content in creative promotional
packages that can be programmed over any wireless network and any mobile
device.
ThumbPlay, which is backed by i-Hatch Ventures and Redwood Partners,
will eventually produce a consumer media portal, which will enable users
to download content, regardless of network of handset.
Reilly new Sirius communications VP
New York-based satellite radio provider Sirius said Patrick Reilly,
formerly with BMG Music, was appointed to the newly created position of
senior vice president, Communications, with responsibility for all media
and corporate communications.
He reports to Scott Greenstein, Sirius president of Entertainment and
Sports.
Reilly previously was vice president of Corporate Communications at BMG,
where he was responsible for all media relations, strategic corporate
branding and internal communications.
Supercom gains funding
New York-based SuperCom Ltd., a maker of smart card and e-ID technology
integrator and solutions provider serving governmental and commercial
markets, raised approximately $3.5 million of gross proceeds in new
private equity financing.
SuperCom makes smart cards for physical and logical security, education,
corrections facilities and air and seaports.
