Telecom picks ETI system

Brandenburg Telecom of Brandenburg, Ky., selected Norcross-based ETI Software Solutions, Inc.'s VideoDirect commercial insertion system to enable Brandenburg Telecom to provide local advertising insertion.

ETI develops software automating fiber-to-the-home and video service activation for triple play (video, telephone and data) services.

ETI's VideoDirect enables Brandenburg Telecom to insert local advertising spots during the national programming of the largest cable TV networks in the country. Networks such as CNN, ESPN and The Weather Channel allow the insertion of two or three minutes of locally produced material for each hour of programming.

Innovative Drafting releases SmartOutline

Atlanta-based Innovative Drafting Concepts released SmartOutline, a desktop productivity tool that aims to simplify information collection and management.

Operating from an Explorer style interface, users may organize, secure, and share information in revolutionary ways. Out of the box, the software contains advanced tools that annotate Web pages, and categorize URLs.

President Bush adds Internap CEO to council

President George W. Bush has appointed Internap President and CEO Gregory A. Peters to serve on the National Infrastructure Advisory Council (NIAC).

Atlanta-based Internap Network Services Corporation provides routing services over the Internet.

Bush established the NIAC to support a coordinated effort by government and private sector entities to advise him on security of information systems supporting the nation's critical infrastructure.

As a NIAC member, Peters will provide the president advice on these issues from a variety of sectors of the economy, including banking and finance, transportation, energy, manufacturing and emergency government services.

ChoicePoint completes i2 buy

Atlanta-based ChoicePoint closed on its acquisition of i2, a global provider of visual investigative and link analysis software for intelligence, law enforcement, military and large commercial applications located in Cambridge, England.

The transaction included an initial payment of $90.3 million, with an earn-out of up to an additional $10 million if certain financial performance goals are met.

Product development, support and sales outside the United States will remain at i2's Cambridge location. U.S.-based sales and support staff will continue to be located in the Washington, D.C. area.

Innotrac CFO set to leave company

Atlanta-based Innotrac Corp. Chief Financial Officer David L. Gamsey will leave the company to become the CFO of a private company in the insurance brokerage business, the company reported in a filing with the Securities and Exchange Commission.

ALso, Innotrac named Ryan Scheinfeld vice president of Finance. He will serve as the principal financial officer of the company. The company also named Chrissy Herren senior director and controller. She will serve as the principal accounting officer of the company.

Innotrac provides telecommunications services and marketing services, including consulting, inventory and database management, customer teleservices and order fulfillment services.

Ptek changes name

Atlanta-based Ptek Holdings Inc. moved its stock to the New York Stock Exchange and has changed its name.

Ptek is a provider of business communications and data services. Its new name is Premiere Global Services Inc., and it is now trading under the symbol "PGI."

iKobo raises venture capital

Atlanta-based iKobo Inc., which provides electronic payment services, raised an undisclosed amount of venture capital to be used for product development and management recruitment.

The company said the investment was led by Atlanta-based Total Technology Ventures, with participation from Council Ventures of Nashville, Tenn., and from existing investors.
