Imation teams with Singapore company
Oakdale-based Imation Corp and Trek 2000 International Ltd of Singapore
announced the establishment of a business agreement designed to bring
the two companies' USB portable storage products to customers worldwide.
Imation and Trek will work together to deliver USB storage products to
the market using Trek's technology, research and development, leveraging
Imation's global distribution capabilities. Imation indicated it intends
to make a minor equity investment in Trek, which will be immaterial to
Imation.
This agreement grants Imation global sales, marketing and distribution
rights to Trek's USB portable storage products under the ThumbDrive
brand.
Kinetic survey product released
St. Paul-based Kinetic Data Inc. said 3M purchased its new Kinetic
Survey software solution, along with related consulting services.
Kinetic Survey allows users to generate surveys for multiple purposes
and contact modes. For example, data quality surveys can be sent to
contact databases in order to update various kinds of customer
information.
Kinetic makes tailored and packaged service industry software products
for users of BMC's Remedy software.
PowerJoy releases gaming system
Minneapolis-based PowerJoy USA, which makes portable TV gaming systems,
today announced that it will be introducing the PowerJoy III, a
console-free portable TV gaming system with over 85 classic arcade games
built into a single gaming unit.
The company said PowerJoy III will expand the gaming experience by
offering an affordable alternative to other console-free gaming systems
NVE patent approved
Eden Prairie-based NVE Corp. said the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office
has notified the company that it will grant a patent for sensors used to
reduce errors in the company's computer memory system.
NVE makes MRAM (Magnetic Random Access Memory), a new type of memory
that uses electrons' spin to encode data. One of the system's main
characteristics is that it keeps data even when the computer is turned
off.
Digital River buys British firm
Eden Prairie-based Digital River Inc. acquired SWReg, an England-based
e-commerce services provider for software authors.
Digital River, an e-commerce outsourcing company, will receive SWReg's
vendor contracts, intellectual property, and certain assets and
liabilities for $8.8 million in cash. Digital River might also make
additional cash payments based on revenue and development goal
incentives over the first 12 months after the transaction closes.
August Technology buy getting closer
Nanometrics Inc., one of three companies trying to buy Bloomington-based
August Technology Corp., received antitrust clearance to acquire the
company.
August said that federal antitrust regulators have closed their review
of the deal without moving to block it. August, which makes detection
systems that find defects in semiconductors, agreed to merge with
Nanometrics, of Milpitas, Calif., in February.
Since then, August has received two other takeover offers, from
KLA-Tenco Corp. of San Jose and Flanders, N.J.-based Rudolph
Technologies Inc. Both offers were higher than the Nanometrics deal, but
August's board has said that a merger with Nanometrics offers better
long-term growth opportunities.
Lorton gains Postal Service contract
Minneapolis-based Lorton Data was granted a full service license by the
United States Postal Service to offer its NCOALink processing.
NCOALink processing is a method by which mailing lists are updated with
information from address change cards filed by USPS customers. NCOALink
replaces the recently discontinued NCOA. A new secure data storage
technology used to develop and implement NCOALink, is designed to
further protect the privacy of consumers who file a change of address
with the USPS.
Lorton Data is one of only 16 full service licensees nationwide for
NCOALink.
