DP Solutions gains hosting contract
Columbia, Md.-based DP Solutions was awarded a contract to design and
implement a disaster recovery hosting solution for Baltimore-based
Getintegrated Inc., a human resources outsourcing company.
In order to prevent system downtime as a result of maintenance,
hardware, software and communication failures, a mirror image of
Getintegrated's current line-of-business infrastructure is hosted in DP
Solutions' Network Operating Center. DP Solutions provides continuous
improvement processes and procedures.
Comcast, D&D Interactive team up
Comcast SportsNet and D&D Interactive recently completed a content
management system for Comcast SportNet.com in their Philadelphia,
Chicago and Mid-Atlantic markets. This system allows their reporters and
Web staff to instantly update content from any location in the world,
using only a web browser.
This system, developed by D&D Interactive, allows CSN's staff to manage
stories, streaming media, photographs and banner advertising. It
requires no skills with web site development software. In addition,
national stories and local team statistics are translated dynamically
from XML and automatically update the site several times each day. Not
only is this process a win for Comcast SportsNet but also for avid
sports fans seeking the latest news and content on their favorite teams.
Peak, Toshiba join forces
Columbia, Md.-based Peak Technologies Inc. and Toshiba America
Information Systems Digital Solutions Division formed a strategic
alliance by which Peak will provide wired and wireless network
assessment, installation and services to customers of Toshiba Strata
CTX, and CIX native IP business communications systems supporting
Toshiba's network of authorized dealers.
AOL enters area VoIP market
Washington and Baltimore are among 40 markets nationwide where Internet
service provider America Online Inc. began offering online phone service
in April.
AOL Internet Phone Service uses Voice over Internet Protocol, or VoIP,
technology for placing phone calls via the Internet or similar computer
networks instead of through traditional phone networks.
Also in the initial market launch is Norfolk, Va.
AOL offers an introductory price for its Internet phone service to new
subscribers to its broadband Internet access service. It has other rate
plans for existing Internet subscribers who want to add the VoIP phone
service. The service brings together voice, e-mail and instant messaging
and includes other common features such as call waiting, call forwarding
and caller ID.
I360 to buy Cantilever Tech
Reston, Va.-based i360technologies agreed to purchase Cantilever
Technologies LLC, a West Lafayette, Ind.-based software development and
consulting company.
Cantilever will retain its company name as well as offices at Purdue
Research Park near Purdue University, where it began operations five
years ago.
i360 is an Oracle e-business suite integrator. It's signature product is
Readiness Engine software, which helps companies handle exceptions to
standard customer and supplier transactions.
Telkonet gains resellers Germantown, Md.-based Telkonet Inc.
signed two resellers, Services at Limited and Systemax Communications
Limited. The two companies will market Telkonet's high-speed Internet
access system in Eastern and Western Europe and the UK, respectively.
Telkonet provides in-building broadband access over existing electrical
wiring.
TechExec Forum seeks members
The locally-based Tech Exec Forum said it is seeking new members. The
group is made up of over 100 CIO's throughout Maryland, D.C., and
Virginia. The three forums meet monthly for breakfast, which offers the
member's a platform to discuss common areas of interest and hear from
experts across many technologies.
Members include CIOs, CTOs, vice presidents, and other IT
decisionmakers.

Beauregard joins TecAccess
Rockville, Va.-based TecAccess hired Karen Beauregard as senior
marketing consultant. Beauregard was previously with SkillSoft as a
product manager.
