ACS wins contract extension
Dallas-based Affiliated Computer Services Inc. won a $4 million
contract extension to manage the city of Santa Clara, Calif.'s
information technology operations.
The one-year contract
extension began July 1 and extends through June 30, 2006.
ACS, an
information technology and business process outsourcing company, will
manage the city's data center, provide help desk support, applications
support, network management, desktop support and other services for
Santa Clara.
Alamo Studios honored
In its annual
competition, the Communicator Awards recognized Las Colinas-based Alamo
Studios, a brand experience agency for its work on multiple 2004 client
campaigns. Alamo was awarded the Crystal Award of Excellence, the
highest honor the Communicator Awards bestows, for its work on Citgo's
2004 Angler of the Year Web site.
MyEclipse updates Enterprise
Workbench
Plano-based MyEclipse recently released Enterprise
Workbench, version 4.0. The product is available for download at the
MyEclipse site (www.myeclipseide.com).
This release introduces a
number of new features including UML modeling, Tapestry support and an
advanced Oracle connector for editing events, triggers and stored
procedures.
Cars.com buys NewCars.com
Online
auto-shopping site Cars.com, owned by Belo Corp. and five other media
companies, has bought NewCars.com to expand its virtual car lot.
Financial terms of the acquisition were not disclosed.
Cars.com has about 1.4 million vehicles listed for sale at any
given time from 10,000 dealers who subscribe to the service. Adding
NewCars.com expands the company's reach to consumers who shop online.
The Santa Monica, Calif.-based company links to key search words on
search engines, like Google.
NewCars.com was founded in 1996.
InternetPerils goes after phishing sites
Austin-based InternetPerils Inc., a provider of automated
products for Internet Business Risk Management, is utilizing its
PerilScope visualization technology to track down and identify Internet
domains that harbor, knowingly or unknowingly, malicious phishing Web
sites, the company said.
InternetPerils is working in association
with research from Corillian Corp., a provider of online banking and
anti-fraud solutions to leading financial institutions, Websense Inc., a
provider of employee Internet management solutions, and the
Anti-Phishing Working Group to follow trend and growth patterns.
Camacho new Net Solutions West director
Carrolton-based Net Solutions West recently named former U.S.
Customs and Border official, Rudy M. Camacho, as director of its
Security Solutions division.
He has held numerous positions
within the U.S. government in his more than 33 years of service.
Prior to this assignment, Camacho also served as the Director of
Field Operations for the Southern California Customs Management Center
and as Pacific Regional Commissioner with oversight for the port
enforcement, inspection and commercial operations in California, Oregon,
Washington, Alaska, Idaho and Hawaii.
HBR achieves Cisco
wireless status
Carrolton-based technology consultant and
reseller HBR Technologies achieved the Cisco Wireless LAN
Specialization. Cisco recognized HBR's ability to plan, design,
implement and support Cisco award-winning, Aironet Wireless LAN
solutions. HBR focuses on building and securing corporations external
and internal communications.
To achieve the Wireless LAN
Technology Specialization, HBR had to train an account manager,
responsible for the sales methodology of the Cisco wireless LAN
solutions; a systems engineer, responsible for the network planning and
design; and a field engineer, responsible for the implementation and
support of the wireless LAN solution.
