Intechra Holding to merge with
RetroBox
Intechra Holding Corp. agreed to merge with RetroBox
L.L.C. The combined company will generate annual revenue of about $40
million and will operate as Intechra, according to a news
release.
Carrollton-based Intechra Holding is the parent company
of Intechra L.L.C., a leading recycler and remarketer of computers and
related information technology assets.
Columbus, Ohio-based
RetroBox performs similar services.
The combined company will be
based in Dallas and will have processing centers in Dallas, Columbus and
Phoenix.
BSA settles with area companies
A
software piracy watchdog group said four Dallas-Fort Worth companies
have paid more than $313,000 to settle claims they had unlicensed
software programs on office computers.
The Business Software
Alliance said all four companies were reported via the organization's
online reporting form.
The following companies paid fines:

Brook Mays Music Group, based in Dallas, paid BSA $85,000 after a self-
audit revealed unlicensed Adobe, Apple, Macromedia and Microsoft
software programs on its computers.
* Engineering Concepts &
Design L.P., a Richardson-based engineering design firm, paid $50,000 to
BSA to settle claims it had unlicensed Adobe, Autodesk, Microsoft and
Symantec software programs on its computers.
* Simtek Inc., a
Hurst-based maker of simulated products, paid BSA $95,234 to settle
claims it had unlicensed Autodesk, Borland and Microsoft software
programs on its computers.
* The Marco Co., a Fort Worth-based
maker of display products for the merchandise industry, paid BSA $82,879
to settle claims of unlicensed Adobe, Microsoft and Solidworks
programs.
Digital-mapping firm expands to
Texas
Digital Map Products Inc. has established three new
offices in Texas in order to provide electronic geospatial maps to
Realtors, builders, land developers, title companies, utility companies
and local government agencies.
Costa Mesa, Calif.-based Digital
Maps now has offices in Dallas, San Antonio and Houston.
Founded
in 2000, the company is a developer of Web-based mapping
software.
Digital Map Products President Jim Skurzynski says the
Texas offices augment the company's recent corporate expansion into
Seattle, Phoenix and Florida.
BindView shareholders to
vote on Symantec merger
BindView Development Corp. is holding
a special shareholders meeting on Dec. 8 to vote on its previously
announced merger with Symantec Corp.
The meeting will be held aon
Dec. 8 at Houston-based BindView's corporate offices.
Shareholders
of record at the close of business on Nov. 3, 2005, will be mailed the
definitive proxy statement in connection with the proposed merger and
will be entitled to vote at the company's special shareholder
meeting.
Symantec, a Cupertino, Calif.-based software maker, has
said it expects to provide a comprehensive end-to-end solution for
policy compliance and vulnerability management when the deal
closes.
TRTF works on security project
The
Texas Research and Technology Foundation (TRTF) will work with six other
organizations on a new partnership to enhance national
security.
Together, the Technology Acceleration for National
Security--the new umbrella organization for all seven groups--will work
to build up the country's base of small companies with promising
security technologies.
The consortium already represents 106 small
businesses across the country. These businesses are working on new
technologies ranging from network vulnerability scanning, x-ray scanning
of shipping containers, data mining and anthrax treatment.

members of the Technology Acceleration for National Security include:
The Advanced Technology Development Center in Atlanta; the Chesapeake
Innovation Center in Annapolis, Md.; Colorado Springs Technology
Incubator in Colorado Springs, Colo.; Harrisonburg Innovation Center in
Harrisonburg, Va.; Northeast Alabama Entrepreneurial System in Anniston,
Ala.; and Watervliet Innovation Center in Albany,
N.Y.
