WebAssist, QBS team up

Encinitas software developer WebAssist, and QBS, a reseller of programming tools in Europe, have joined forces. QBS will carry three of WebAssist's market-leading extensions for Adobe Dreamweaver: eCommerce Suite, Admin Suite and Site Import.

With eCommerce Suite, Dreamweaver designers can create as many complete online stores, customized to their client's specifications, as desired, quickly and easily. Admin Suite combines the power of two WebAssist extensions (SiteAssist and DataAssist) to create full administrative sites for managing databases online. Site Import retrieves any Web site, static or dynamic, and recreates the site with all the images, SWFs, CSS and HTML intact right in Dreamweaver.

TimeSpring releases TimeData for SharePoint

Newport Beach-based TimeSpring Software Corp. released TimeData for Microsoft Windows SharePoint Services.

TimeData is continuous data protection (CDP) software that allows SharePoint administrators to rapidly recover any or all lost, corrupt or deleted documents. Unlike other backup systems, including the SharePoint Per-site Backup and Restore feature, TimeData continuously captures all SharePoint data as it changes in real-time to an on- or offsite repository. There are no protection gaps, no scheduling requirements, no backup related system slowdowns and no backup windows for the administrator to manage.

J2 releases messaging products

Los Angeles-based j2 Global Communications, Inc., a provider of outsourced messaging and communications services, released eVoice Free and eVoice Plus.

eVoice Free is an answering service that provides consumers and business professionals with a dedicated phone number for voicemail messages. Messages left on that phone number are forwarded as attachments to an email address of the subscriber's choice, allowing eVoice customers to access voicemail communications in their inbox with just a few mouse clicks.

eVoice Plus, j2 Global's subscription service, offers a number of additional beneficial features. Users may access their voicemail messages by phone in addition to email, and may set up text notification for new eVoice messages on almost any cell phone.

IT workers generally happy with salaries

Compared to the general work force, IT workers are more satisfied with their compensation. In fact, nearly four out of five (78 percent) of them are very or somewhat satisfied with their cash and benefits, compared to 72 percent of all workers.

The findings come from Hudson's Transforming Pay Plans: 2006 Compensation and Benefits Report, which surveyed 10,000 workers across all sectors, examining employee attitudes about traditional and non-traditional pay and benefit programs.

IT professionals also anticipate making more money in 2006 than in 2005, and 57 percent indicate they will earn more. Only 41 percent of overall workforce believes that to be the case. Also, almost half (46 percent) of the IT work force received a raise within the last six months, compared to 33 percent of all respondents.
