Sonos digital music system honored
Santa Barbara-based Sonos said its Sonos Digital Music System was
honored by the Consumer Electronics Association (CEA) as "Best of Audio"
in the 2005 CES Innovations Design and Engineering Awards competition.
Sonos is the first and only multi-zone digital music system with a
wireless, full-color LCD screen controller that lets consumers play all
their digital music, all over their home, while controlling it all from
the palm of the hand.
Sponsored by the CEA and endorsed by the Industrial Designers Society of
America (IDSA), the CES Innovations Awards highlight product
advancements in technology design and engineering.
Setec Security buys Digital Detectives
Los Angeles-based Setec Security, a vendor-neutral provider of
information security services, completed its acquisition of San
Jose-based Digital Detectives, which provides computer forensic
investigations, electronic discovery services, and data recovery
solutions.
The acquisition will allow Setec Security to expand geographically, the
company said, in addition to giving the company additional offices and
computer forensic laboratories throughout North America.
Setec also said its Setec Forensic Laboratories division would open new
facilities in New York, Chicago, and Dallas during the first quarter of
2005.
Trainers team up to offer autoCAD classes
Two established computer training companies recently joined forces to
offer AutoCAD classes in San Diego. Computers Etc Software Training
Center of San Diego and Cybertek Training Centers Inc. of Corona
announced the signing of a partnership agreement.
Together, the two companies can provide a number of different AutoCAD
classes, from beginning through advanced level courses, with Cybertek
providing the training and course materials, and Computers Etc providing
the facilities and hosting the classes.
Cybertek and Computers Etc will begin offering AutoCAD Level 1 classes.
Later this year, the roster of courses will be expanded to include
intermediate and advanced-level subjects. In addition, on-site AutoCAD
training classes and consulting services will be offered.
E.A. Pifer to use TimeSpring software
Newport Beach-based TimeSpring Software Corp. and EA Pifer Financial
Systems of Barrington, N.J., announced an agreement under which Pifer
will offer TimeSpring's TimeData software to the banking, credit union
and financial services community.
The TimeData software provides users with continuous data protection
and a time-dimensioned data repository for analysis by automatically
capturing all changes to application data in real-time.
JBI completes multi-language project for Microsoft
Los Angeles-based JBI Localization Inc., completed a multiple-language
audio-only localization of online Flash demos to support the
international marketing of computers pre-installed with the Microsoft
Windows XP Professional operating system.
JBI provides language, audio and video services to entertainment,
technology and general business enterprises. The company was assigned
the project by translations.com, an international multi-language
solutions provider based in New York City..
Mt. Sierra launches game arts program
Monrovia-based Mt. Sierra College announced the introduction of a new
bachelor of arts degree program in Game Arts and Design.
The program, scheduled to debut in spring of 2005, is designed to give
students the tools they need to succeed in the dynamic gaming industry.
It addresses the entire game development process from concept and
storyboarding, through rollout and marketing.
The Game Arts and Design Program's core curriculum encompasses a
foundational education in Media Arts and Design, with specific courses
designed for Game Arts and Design. Students will learn Computer Graphics
and Language Development, as well as unique courses such as Acting for
Animators, Mythology, and Storytelling.
Mt. Sierra College has facilities and learning resources appropriate for
Game Arts and Design including an intimate theater with surround sound,
Internet access, DVD, CD, SVHS and computer capability.
