LiveTime teams with BEA systems
Newport Beach-based LiveTime Software, a provider of J2EE based Help Desk and Customer Support software, announced a partnership with BEA Systems. LiveTime announced the immediate availability of LiveTime Support v2.5 for BEA WebLogic Platform 8.1. This version allows customers to leverage BEAšs latest technology with the most comprehensive J2EE based Help Desk and Customer Support solution on the market today.
Staccato, NEC team up
San Diego-based Staccato Communications announced an agreement with NEC Electronics to jointly bring 480Mbps wireless USB silicon products to market.
The products are based on ultrawideband (UWB) standards being developed by the MultiBand OFDM Alliance (MBOA) and the emerging wireless USB protocol. Staccato and NEC Electronics are collaborating to bring 480Mbps wireless USB solutions to market in 2005. NEC Electronics is the dominant supplier of USB silicon.
DAT Optic introduces DigiREC
Santa Ana-based DAT Optic Inc. a developer and manufacturer of optical/data storage and CD/DVD duplication products, announced the release of DigiREC.
The DigiREC has a built-in mini TV tuner and 480Mbps high-speed USB 2.0 interface, which allows direct viewing of video or TV programs on a notebook or desktop PC. DigiREC can be used to record video files or TV programs in DVD quality. DigiREC can support multiple video inputs, including S-Video, Composite Video, Coaxial/Antenna TV connector. It comes with software for time-shift, video encoding and DVD/VCD video authoring.
Lelorieux new SMC sales VP
Irvine-based SMC Networks, a maker of networking products, announced the appointment of Patrick Lelorieux as the company's worldwide vice president for sales and marketing. Based in SMC's European headquarters in Barcelona, Spain, Lelorieux will serve as the company's key strategist, and will have direct responsibility for the company's sales and marketing teams in the Americas, Europe, Africa and Japan. He was most recently president for Avaya, Inc.'s Europe/Middle East and Africa division.
Novantus software lauded
Westlake Village-based Novantus Corp., a provider of Web-based business software, was credited by buySAFE, Inc. for the success of its online auction bonding service launched last November. The program is the first of its kind for Internet auction sites. The Novantus extensible customer relationship management (CRM) software has been the core factor in the smooth operation of the program, according to buySAFE. buySAFE is the only program that enables sellers to present a credibility seal and financially protect their online auction transactions with surety bonds, which are issued by The Hartford Financial Services Group Inc.
Muftic is new Northgate CFO
Northgate Innovations Inc., a City of Industry-based developer and manufacturer of computers and software, named Theodore B. Muftic as the company's new chief financial officer. Muftic will oversee all accounting and financial planning and play an active role as Northgate pursues an aggressive growth strategy.
Muftic was previously with Credit Suisse First Boston, where he was a managing director in the European telecom and media group in London.
Tetra Tech lands San Diego Port contract
Pasadena-based Tetra Tech Inc. was awarded a contract to develop, coordinate, and implement a regional homeland security strategy for the San Diego Port District. The Port of San Diego is one of the largest naval ports in the country, serving a diverse mix of commercial, recreational and military traffic, including more than 190 cruise ships annually. Tetra Tech will be security program integrator for the port's tenants and stakeholders, which include the U.S. Navy, U.S. Coast Guard, San Diego Harbor Police, the City and County of San Diego, and the San Diego International Airport.
