D-Link debuts antenna line
Fountain Valley-based D-Link, a maker of consumer network
connectivity products, announced the expansion of its line of wireless
antenna products with the 2.4GHz Omni-Directional (ANT24-0400) and
2.4GHz Directional (DWL-M60AT) antennas.
The D-Link high gain antennas are used with select D-Link 802.11g
and 802.11b products to instantly expand the range of a home or
small-business wireless network.
Eptiva launches Web-based outplacement
San Diego-based Eptiva, a provider of high-tech job-search and
interviewing products, launched a new Web-based outplacement service.
The new service is part of Eptiva's Job Hunter Pro product line, and
targets employers who want custom, yet affordable, services for
employees affected by layoffs or other workforce reductions.
The Job Hunter Pro outplacement program provides displaced employees
with the tools and resources they need to jumpstart their job search. It
includes a job search eBook, an interview training program with over 600
sample questions, and a wide range of job search and resume preparation
tools. Since it is web-based, it is accessible 24/7. Employers can
access a demo site to test drive the new service. Links can be found at

Resnick new NubyTech sales director
Los Angeles-based video game and handheld accessories manufacturer
NubyTech said Ron Resnick has been named as the company's director of
sales.
Resnick will oversee and implement the company's sales strategy for
North and South America, as well as coordinate execution of NubyTech's
strategic partnerships. Resnick joins NubyTech from Hip Interactive
where he was the company's National Sales Manager. He has over 11 years
of experience in the interactive entertainment industry and has worked
extensively in sales and marketing of hardware and software products.
Picasa sold to Google
Mountain View-based Internet search engine company Google Inc., of
Mountain View, bought Pasadena-based Picasa, Inc., a digital photo
management company.
Picasa was founded in October 2001. In May 2004, Picasa announced a
technology partnership with Google's Blogger service to make publishing
digital photos with Blogger faster and easier. Further product
integration plans have not been announced.
Global Tel*Link to be sold
Los Angeles management firm Gores Technology Group will buy Mobile,
Ala.-based Global Tel*Link Corp.
Gores said it would buy Tel*Link through an affiliate. GTL, a
telecommunications provider for jails and prisons.
Gores Technology Group is a private international acquisition and
management firm that acquires and manages high-technology organizations.
GTL services more than half of the state departments of corrections
in the U.S., as well as hundreds of county jails.
McAfee cuts Merisel loose
Merisel Inc. said it was notified that McAfee Associates Inc. would
be terminating its distribution agreement with Merisel.
The company hopes to reduce operating expenses to lessen the
long-term impact of the termination. However, Merisel said it has no
guarantee that reducing those expenses will help.
In a news release, the company said McAfee products accounted for
about 94 percent 84 and percent, respectively, of Merisel's net sales.
Merisel Inc. is an El Segundo-based provider of software-licensing
products.
Stevens joins MSC board
Santa Ana-based MSC.Software Corp. said Mark Stevens joined the
company's board of directors.
Stevens currently serves as group executive for commercial strategy
and risk at Fluor Corp.
Stevens will replace Larry Barels, who ended his term on the board
of directors on July 31.
MSC.Software makes simulation software and related services, and
employs more than 1,400 people in 23 countries.
