What do we need it for?
The necessity of backup comes to light only after a very important report or database disappeared unexpectedly or turned out damaged. The price of such a loss is individual but the fact that data must be backed up becomes clear and apparent for every CIO.
Any company has a network with several data types to be archived and each of them is archived in its own way. Generally, it’s necessary to archive the data of the AD, DNS, DHCP and other servers, SQL databases, custom files and DBF bases. We can include here boot drive imaging as well. Modern software servers have native tools for all of this, they are more or less unified, handy and suitable almost for everybody, although they differ in implementation and starting methods. If someone wants to learn about it more, he should look it up on the Internet using the keywords “shadowing”, “NTBackup”, “disk imaging”, and “SQL scripts for archiving”. Last night Samsung delivered a flash-mob style performance in Times Square ahead of it’s Galaxy 4S device unveiling tonight at Radio City Music Hall. Literally, turning the U.S. wireless communication competition into a circus. In another limited-edition special, Apple’s VP of Marketing, Paul Schiller, defended Apple’s products and pointed out major flaws in Samsung’s products and tactics to the Wall Street Journal. Samsung is delivering its new product with circus-like fanfare. In a quick role-reversal, we have Apple on the defense, and Samsung on the front-line (but not in front of true innovation).
