Used to compress text from a Multi-user Domain (MUD), a text-based multi-player online game. MCCP text compression causes faster connection by reducing the bandwidth used to transmit data. MCCP requires installation on the client, as well as server side.

MGCP (Media Gateway Control Protocol)

MGCP defines simpler VoIP standards to eliminate complex Internet telephony devices with the objective of lowering down the cost. It has originated from the IP device control (IPDC) standards and Bellcoreâ??s Simple Gateway Control Protocol (SGCP). MGCP lays standards for converting audio signals from telephone lines to data packets to be transmitted over the Internet.

MWI (Message Waiting Indicator)

An audio or visual signal to indicate the presence of a waiting message. Vibrations, flashing LEDs and special dial-tones are instances of commonly used MWIs.
