Big Data is possibly the hottest topic of discussion within the IT sector today and along with that it is possible one of the more misunderstood topics as well. Due to its complex nature Big Data cannot be classified as a single product but an ecosystem of compliant tools designed to enable the extraction of value from a yet untapped source, unstructured and semi structured data. This workshop will introduce you to the concepts, tools and possibilities of Big Data in an effort to empower you in finding new value from your data. You will get a very good idea of the possibilities of Big Data and at the same time a hint of what is not possible. Through this workshop you will see how Oracle has simplified the minefield of Big Data to allow standard tools and procedures of Data Warehousing to be integrated with Big Data to reach a faster more effective time to value.

This workshop will cover the following tools and concepts:

  • Hadoop Core
  • Pig
  • Hive
Data Access:
  • Oracle Data Integrator
  • HDFS External Tables
Data Analysis and Artificial Intelligence:
  • Mahout
  • Enterprise R
Real Time data access:
  • Oracle NoSQL database

The workshop will unfold as continuous cycles of presentations and hands on workshops to both maximise comprehension and tool experience.

Who should attend?
This workshop is intended as a general overview of Big Data and as such is recommended for architects, developers, consultants and anybody else interested in introducing Big Data into their business intelligence and business analysis infrastructure.
