ParaScale, Inc., (www.parascale.com) a startup company developing cloud storage solutions for deep content archives and rich-media content in traffic-intense applications, announced today that the company’s Chief Executive Officer, Sajai Krishnan, will speak to attendees of Storage Networking World Europe about cloud storage considerations on Tuesday, October 28, 2008 at 8:30 am at Congress Frankfurt.

Entitled “Cloud Storage 101,” Mr. Krishnan’s 30 minute session will assert that cloud storage is not just about online storage rentals. Whether a company owns or rents its cloud is secondary. Most importantly, cloud storage is about scaling capacity and performance by adding standard hardware and having shared access via a standard network. With Moore’s Law driving ever decreasing commodity disk and CPU prices, cloud storage stands to be a highly useful technology especially in addressing exploding storage requirements for unstructured data and digital content including streaming media. In this session, attendees will learn about cloud storage opportunities, ideal data and workload characteristics, and factors to consider before implementing. Attendees interested in building their own private cloud or gaining an understanding of the challenges associated with developing storage services based on a public cloud should attend.

“Given the stark realities of today’s economic climate, cost-containment technologies like cloud storage have the potential to take-off like wild-fire given unabated content storage requirements, even as IT wallets shrink,” said Mr. Krishnan.  “Cloud storage – also called clustered storage, grid storage, or clustered NAS – promises to deliver scale-out capacity and scale-out aggregate performance.  But, there is a lot to consider.  Understanding these considerations is vital in deciding how to engineer cloud storage infrastructure.”
