The DS209+ is equipped with hardware specifications of 800 MHz CPU, 512MB RAM, 3 USB ports and 1 eSATA port, and is furthermore batched with the most updated Synology Disk Station Manager 2.0 software released in late September of brand new business features and polished application enhancements.

A test result verified by Synology laboratory shows that within RAID 1 configuration, the DS209+ reaches 42+MB/Sec in reading and 36+MB/Sec in writing; the power consumption it requires is a mere 32 watts and the system is designed with Scheduled Power On/Off function that furthers the saving principle. The newly introduced 3-speed smart fan design adjusts its spinning rhythm automatically based on temperature detected. But even with the fan topping at maximum speed, the noise level is barely audible of a mere 25 dB(A), which is even quieter than human whispering.
