Los Angeles, CA – June 12, 2007 – Reunion.com, the leading website for social network users to reconnect and stay connected with family, friends, lost loves and colleagues, announced today a strategic partnership with the American Red Cross to raise funds for disaster relief efforts. The 45-day program started on June 11, 2007 and Reunion.com expects to raise $40,000 for the organization by donating one dollar for every new Reunion.com subscription. Fifty percent of donations will be given to the Santa Monica chapter of the organization to aid local disaster victims as well as other recipients of Red Cross services, including youth, military families, seniors and other at-risk groups in Santa Monica. The other half will be provided for the Red Cross National Disaster Relief Fund, which offers assistance during all national disasters including hurricanes, tornadoes, earthquakes and more.
“Partnering with the American Red Cross was a natural fit for Reunion.com because we have a common goal: helping people across the country,” said Jeffrey Tinsley, Founder and CEO, Reunion.com. “Our service helps subscribers fulfill a personal desire to reconnect with someone from their past and because of our alliance with the Red Cross, new Reunion.com users will also help those in dire need of aid.”
The donations will help the American Red Cross of Santa Monica continue its assistance outreach campaign, which was particularly successful during Hurricane Katrina, where the organization trained and deployed 1,200 disaster relief volunteers to areas affected by Katrina, as well as assisted more than 200 displaced families who came to Santa Monica to rebuild their lives. The chapter also offers Disaster and Preparedness Education training, including First Aid/CPR and Aquatic programs, community youth mentoring programs, influenza immunizations, Senior Ready programs, blood pressure screenings and blood drives to more than 10,000 Santa Monica residents annually.
"The American Red Cross is very excited about the collaboration with Reunion.com as we share a joint mission to help reunite separated individuals and families,” said John Pacheco, Executive Director, American Red Cross of Santa Monica. “This partnership will also help us raise needed funds to carry on disaster response and lifesaving CPR and First Aid training programs at the national and local level."
Even amid disaster, Reunion.com allows people to reconnect and stay connected as their lives change. With a search engine database of more than 36 million records, Reunion.com boasts the deepest people search engine of any social networking site around and also offers its unrivaled reverse search engine feature, Who’s Searching For You?, increasing members’ chances of reconnecting with that special person.
