FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE Menlo Park, CA 15 April 2008. Dr. David Matheson, President and CEO of SmartOrg will chair “Enterprise Strategic Decision Management: Benefits and Concepts†at the May 1-2 Aberdeen Product Innovation 2008 Executive Summit in San Francisco.
Matheson will be joined by Gary DeGregorio of Motorola and Michael Menke, formerly of HP to present the findings of an IEEE Working Group on Enterprise Strategic Decision Management. The standard’s purpose is to enable common decision management methods to be used across all parts of an enterprise (or among enterprises), including but not limited to strategy, portfolio management, product development, technology/capability management, systems/platform engineering and major capital projects.
The proposed IEEE standard has been developed over several years by a working group of executives from Boeing, Decision Strategies, Hewlett-Packard, IBM, Intel, Motorola, Seagate Technology, SmartOrg, and Systems Process Inc.
The objectives of the standard:
1. Expand the use of good decision making methods and processes and thereby contribute to greater wealth creation 2. Allow people and companies to work better together (benchmarking, coordinating shared activities; building staff skills and facilitating focused innovation).
3. Facilitate the development of an ecosystem around decision management to enable better coordination of decision making training, software, and consulting that many companies rely on to complement their internal efforts.
Participants in the interactive session at the AberdeenGroup executive summit will have an opportunity to contribute suggestions and become involved with the IEEE Working Group as the group completes its mission.
