The VA education benefits are effective retroactively to July 1, 2006.Veterans eligible for benefits through the Montgomery G.I. Bill (Chapter 30), the Veterans Educational Assistance Program (Chapter 32), and the Survivors' and Dependents' Educational Assistance Program (Chapter 35) can submit proof of their exam results and fee payment to the VA for reimbursement of the LPI exam fees. Currently, all LPI exams except for the 301 exam cost $150. The LPI 301 exam costs $250.00 per exam.Eligibility applies regardless of the number of exams taken or retaken, and includes exams taken for certification renewal and those taken in foreign countries. "The VA's approval of LPI certification exams further confirms that Linux knowledge is essential for any serious IT worker in North America. It also validates our assertion that LPI certification and training is the best way to obtain that knowledge," said James Stanger, Chief Certification Architect for VCampus and Chair of the LPI Advisory Council. "The VA takes great pains to ensure that veterans have the right skills to make them competitive in the workplace. The relationship VCampus has with the VA and LPI's focus on job roles and best practices led to a speedy approval of this education benefit."
"I want to congratulate VCampus for their work in this area," said Jim Lacey, LPI's President and CEO. VCampus is building a solid foundation for LPI's success in the United States. More importantly, they're helping thousands of veterans and active duty personnel demonstrate their professional-level knowledge of Linux which will enable them to pursue a successful IT career. As a veteran, I've taken personal interest in this effort and understand the importance of providing this opportunity to all that have served."
