Wrap Plug
Wrap plug, also kown as loopback plug, can be inserted into a port on a communications device to perform a diagnostic test called a loopback test.
Write-Back Cache
Write-back caching is a caching method which is used in many microprocessors, including all Intel processors since the 80486. With write-back caching, data modifications to data stored in the L1 cache aren't copied to main memory until absolutely necessary.
Write-Through Cache
Write through cache is a type of cache which allows data to be written to main memory and the L1 memory simultaneously.
X Terminal
An X terminal consists of a piece of dedicated hardware running an X server as a thin client. This architecture became popular for building inexpensive terminal parks for many users to simultaneously use the same large server. X terminals can explore the network (the local broadcast domain) using the X Display Manager Control Protocol to generate a list of available hosts that they can run clients from. The initial host needs to run an X display manager.
Xeon
The Xeon is Intel's server-class microprocessors for PCs intended for multiple-processor machines. The first Xeon processor was released in 1998 as the Pentium II Xeon as the replacement of the Pentium Pro. The Pentium II Xeon was based on the P6 microarchitecture and used either a 440GX (a dual-processor workstation chipset) or 450NX (quad-processor, or oct with additional logic) chipset, and differed from its forerunner in that it had a full-speed, off-die L2 cache. Cache sizes were 512 kB, 1 MB and 2 MB, and it used a 100 MHz bus.
ZIF socket: Zero Insertion Force socket
Zero Insertion Force (ZIF) socket is a chip socket that allows one to insert and remove a chip without special tools.
2D Computer Graphics
2D computer graphics is the computer-based generation of digital images based on two-dimensional models. The word may stand for the branch of computer science that comprises such techniques, or for the models themselves. 2D computer graphics are mainly used in applications that were originally developed upon traditional printing and drawing technologies, such as typography, cartography, technical drawing, advertising, etc.
2GL: Second Generation Language
Second generation language (2GL), also known as second-generation programming language, usually refers to some form of assembly language. Unlike first-generation programming languages, the code can be read and written fairly easily by a human, but it must be converted into a machine readable form in order to run on a computer. The conversion process is simply a mapping of the assembly language code into binary machine code (the first-generation language). The language is specific to and dependent on a particular processor family and environment. Since it is the native language of a processor it has significant speed advantages, but it requires more programming efforts and is difficult to use effectively for large( or wide) applications.
ACCU: Association of C and C++ Users
Association of C and C++ Users (ACCU) is a worldwide association of people who are interested in C, C++, and related programming languages.
Fibonacci Number Program
Fibonacci number program is a popular program in many beginning computer science courses, introducing the concept of recursion by calculating and printing the Fibonacci numbers. In general, however, a recursive algorithm to compute Fibonacci numbers is extremely inefficient when compared to other algorithms, such as iterative or matrix equation algorithms.
