International Communications, Inc.
This nicely-designed website explains how a product or web page can be made available to people in different cultures speaking different languages all over the world. International Communications, Inc. is a company that offers language and technology solutions including software localization, multilingual websites, and translation of advertising and marketing communications. The three key ideas are internationalization, localization, and translation. Before a product can be localized, it must be internationalized, which means ensuring that the functionality of the product is suited to overseas users, and that the internal architecture of the product will allow for localization. Localization is customizing all elements of a software or hardware product to a local culture in some part of the world. Localization includes not only linguistic translation, but also adjusting the user interface to local measurement standards, date/time formats, telecommunication protocols, currency and financial data; choosing relevant example and tutorial subjects; testing the application's compatibility with overseas operating environments and peripherals; and performing quality assurance on the foreign-language product to make sure it is easy to use.
