How can I find out more about opportunities for teaching positions in IT?
Q. I read your recent article on computer training opportunities. I feel I’m a good teacher and I’m really into computers. How can I find out more about opportunities for teaching positions in IT?
A. Check with the continuing education department at colleges in your area. These organizations are aggressively developing computer-related course programs and even certification programs for adults who wish to improve their computer skills. Ask them what kinds of qualifications you need to teach courses there–a bachelor’s degree is usually a must, as is some kind of past experience as a teacher or trainer. You usually don’t need the higher education requirements that professors need (Master’s degree or Ph.D.).
