2 MediaMind Formats Win IAB Mobile Rising Stars Competition

  •     The adAPPter is an HTML5 ad format containing modular, app-like features that simplifies the complex process of executing mobile rich media. It offers the user an interactive and intuitive experience using common mobile gestures. The adAPPter supports smartphones, tablets on mobile web, and in-app inventory.
  •     The Slider is an HTML5 ad format that remains tethered above the fold even as users scroll the page, offering advertisers a persistent branding opportunity. The user can also expand the Slider for a more interactive and engaging brand experience.

The evaluation process included quantitative scoring to get to a short-list and then qualitative discussions to determine the final winners. In this latter phase, entries were clustered into the five winning ad product concepts. The Mobile Rising Stars, with success in-market and in consumer research, will graduate in the first quarter of 2013 to official IAB Standard Ad Unit status.

Key aspects of MediaMind’s adAPPter and Slider units will be incorporated into the IAB Push Mobile Rising Star and IAB Slider Mobile Rising Star respectively; and MediaMind has been chosen to participate in two IAB Mobile Rising Stars Working Groups with fellow mobile innovators, to define, build, and implement these new mobile formats.
