Technology Expert Scott Steinberg recently spoke with NewsWatch about some of the best technology products of 2012. One of the hottest themes for 2012 were routers and wireless connectivity products. One company that really stood out was TP-LINK and their line of Portable routers.
The first router from TPLink that stood out for Scott was the 150Mbps Wireless N Nano Router. What the router is most noticeable for is it’s size; it’s almost smaller than a credit card. The Nano router is powered by a USB cable connected to a laptop or to an adapter wall outlet. It has 5 operating modes that give users the ability to enable various wireless applications. The access point mode makes life a lot easier for a consumer staying at a hotel with wired only or weak wireless connection. All a consumer needs to do is plug in the Ethernet cable and share wireless internet with up to 16 devices. If there is a low signal spot in a house, the Nano router is great to extend the wireless range. It can also connect wired only devices like a game console or TV box to the internet wirelessly. With the Nano Router, a consumer can also set up a guest network without revealing the primary network’s password, ideal for small retail businesses sharing internet with their customers. Lastly, it operates as a Router, offering an affordable and portable solution to students or whomever with a low budget need.
Another router from TP-LINK is their Wireless N Mini Pocket Router. It has all of the same features as the Nano router, except it is plugged directly into the wall. It’s so small, it can fit into a pocket. The last TP-LINK router that caught Scott’s eye is the TPLink 3G Router. It’s identical in size and features to the other two but also has the ability to turn a 3G USB Modem Connection into a Wi-Fi hotspot. TP-LINK will soon have a 4G router on the market. All of these routers are available at Fry’s, Micro Center, Amazon.com, Buy.com and Newegg.com and are ideal for anyone who travels or demands a stable internet connection.
