Russ Hudson, founder and editor-in-chief of the company said that the announcement is news to him as well:
"We discovered this sort of by accident – a joke, actually. During an employee gathering someone joked that we must have written billions of words by now."
The joke piqued the curiosity of senior editor Rachel Clark, who scoured company records and realized that the group was on the cusp of its 10,000th article.
"It was definitely cause for celebration," said Clark. "Our writing and editing processes here are exceptionally comprehensive, so producing that many articles is really quite astonishing considering the small size of our staff."
However, in a blog about the announcement, some readers have scoffed at the accomplishment, attributing it to nothing more than the production of content for content farms – something search engines like Google have aggressively fought against. But in a response blog post Hudson quickly dispelled such ideas:
". . . it's simple: we create 100% original, fully researched, fact-checked and highly polished works. If our clients are spending the money and want to publish the work on a content farm, then we have no control over that. But our article distribution strategies do not target content farms. In fact, a great deal of our work is published on real paper."
Issues related to the quality of online content have been hotly debated in the weeks since Google's latest implementation of the Panda update. However, if the content on the company's website is any example, then Content for Conversions isn't likely to draw any penalties.
