The book, entitled “An Agent of Hook,” follows a young protagonist named Puck as he travels through a fantastic medieval land making his living as a bard and storyteller. Although it may seem that Puck’s wit and skills keep him living large and one step ahead of trouble, he hides a secret mission behind his carefree veil. Orphaned as a child, he had no choice but to become a mysterious agent of the clandestine organization known as Hook, which sends him on an errand that forces him to cross the kingdom undercover and find an object that even the scrolls of history have forgotten. On his journey, Puck meets a satyr, a magician, and a silent hermit, who agree to help him in his quest.
Coauthor Glenn Edwards explains that, “Puck is an appealing mix of personalities. He shows the rest of the world this happy-go-lucky wanderer persona, while he continually hides this serious, more contemplative side of himself. I think it’s a very identifiable character in a lot of ways.”
David Leonard, the founder of Blue Rhino, says of the book, “It’s a remarkable story. Macy and Glenn have found a way to weave elements that we’ve come to know and love – monsters, a hero’s quest, and so forth – with things you might never expect to come out of the fantasy genre. The book has a smart edge that I think is missing in a lot of new young adult fiction. I’m very happy to have been able to help this story find its way into the world, and I’m very proud of Macy and Glenn.”
“An Agent of Hook” will be released as an e-book on March 1.
